First impressions with the Blade

I ordered my Blade direct from Red-M and had it delivered by FedEx free of charge to Switzerland a couple of days later.

I inserted it into my Visor Platinum, set my Ericsson R520m to be discoverable and followed the instruction provided by Red-M. 3 minutes later I had the connection between my Visor and my phone working without any problems. I use the combo to browse and check my e-mail.

The blade contains a couple of usefull applications:
- Eudora
- Eudora Web
- Phone Mate (Look-up and dial phone numbers)
- Monkey Messenger (send & receive SMS messages)

I haven't made any scientifc measurements of how far I can go away from the phone, but I had it working with distances of 3-5 meters with a wall inbetween.

Once the phone forgot that it was paired to the blade and I had to re-pair it, but that seems to be a problem of the phones software.

Now all I'm waiting for is to get the HBH-15 Bluetooth headset to be totally free of cables and a 3com USB Bluetooth module for my computer to do the synchronisation between Visor and PC.

All in all: The blade delivers, it just works and it finally allows me to use the Visor for real communication stuff. (Using the IRDA interface is just to clumsy to make it worth it. With Bluetooth I could check my email in a boring meeting without anyone noticing what I was doing ;-)

Recommended!
