Question Visorcenral/Treocental?

I note that these two web sites (more or less sponsored by Handspring) being separate entities would be detrimental to both sub-brands.

Does Handspring really want to separate these two product lines.

I think it's endemic of the corporate PDA thought processes lately.

It's not as if the Treo has been unanimously embraced by the public and it's not like Treo doesn't have its own problems--

I'm just fascinated by this compartmentalizing for what I see can only be the determent to both--

What do you guys think -- Especially those of you who own both units--?

I find it's too much hassle to go to another board, and lacking a treo I don't go there. Which likely means I'm missing out on things I may find interesting or of use about the Treo.
But I don't give enough of a darn to complain. I'd really rather keep my phone and organizer separate.

Arrow I'm not complaining--

Not complainin' I just think it's counterproductive -- In part due to what you said---You can't be everywhere--

I use the view new posts button, for some reason the option to view both boards is only on the treocentral side, so I don't read that stuff either.

Like Yorick I don't own a Treo either (and I don't plan on it).. I prefer to keep my cell phone and organizer separate as well.. that also goes for my discussion boards too, when there was Treo stuff here it was a lot of "junk" I wasn't even remotely interested in to wade thru just to get to non-treo posts I did want to read.. I almost cried tears of joy when they finally spun off Treocentral and all the treo stuff with it.. On occasion I may go over there just to see what's going on, but I don't want it mixed in with the regular visorcentral postings..

EXACTLY--

I was simply commenting on a common, legitimate, established business practice--

Glad you understand--

Ahhh, so with that in mind...

Hey Handspring! Great job! I did not mean all those things I said about Donna. You still Love us and we still Love you! Keep advertising here to support the site. We LOVE you guys and plan on dumping all of our springboard modules and buying lots and lots of Treos!

Ok, that's enough. My nose is growing so long its about to tip over my monitor.

I too appreciate having seperate Visor and Treo discussion boards, but it seems that the focus has become too Treo. News articles on the VisorCentral site are becoming few and far between. I know you guys (the staff) have only two hands each and so many hours in the day and I really appreciate the job that you (round of applause for VisorCentral Staff!!!). But is the Visor-related news actually fading, or is TreoCentral requiring most of your available time and effort? If the latter, then maybe a combined site would be best so that VisorCentral does not get news-stagnant.

stagnancy sucks

But that's basically the status of the Visor line: It's VERY stagnant.

I would be VERY surprised to see any new PDAs coming out in the Visor line these days. In fact, the only thing that would surprise me only a little bit would be a Color Pro but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I like the Treo 90. If I'd waited a few more months, I would've bought the Treo 90 but the Visor Pro satisfies all my needs now so I'm not complaining.

What does that mean for Visor Central? It'll be around for a long time because the retail outlets don't stop selling them just because Handspring has (Compusa still has VDXes and Target is selling Neos cheap!) but eventually it will pass just like all of us.

Yes and no. They'll try to clear out whatever they've got in inventory, but that doesn't mean much. Three new Targets opened last week within an hour of where I live (one locally and two in the NOLA area). The local one definitely didn't have any Neos.
