Talking

Handspring will be offering a $50 mail-in rebate on the VDX when purchased between 3/4/01 and 4/15/01. I found the rebate forms while working at Staples yesterday.

Smile Also, Stowaway rebate

And, I saw in yesterday's Staples flyer, that there is a mail-in rebate on a Stowaway keyboard, bringing the total cost way down, in case anyone is interested.

Will that stowaway rebate be available on the website? (I didn't see it there just now...). What area did that flyer go out in, K...?

Thanks!

stowaway

There is a $50 mail-in rebate on the stowaway when purchased with a visor.

Staples also has a $30 instant and $20 mail-in on the thinmodem, bringing it down to $70.

Do you all think this is a response to Palm's recent reduction in prices (as they are gearing up for unvieling new models) or do you think Handspring is pulling a Palm and lowering prices to gear up for a new product release of their own?

The Staples flyer was from here in South Carolina. Maybe I misread it, but I thought there were separate rebates on the VDX and the keyboard.

Not sure the cause of the rebates--has anyone heard rumors of new, latest and greatest Handspring products?

Post rebate at all retail locations?

I take it the $50 rebate on the VDX will be offered at all retail locations? or is it just Staples?

I think maybe a combo.
If Palm goes to 4.0, I can't see HS selling a whole lot of 3.1 (or is it 3.2?) Visors. I'll bet they're getting newbies to snap them up in prep for an O.S. upgrade to the DLX.

Wow. This completly changes the tables when considering a Palm IIIxe over a Visor. I reccomended a Palm IIIxe today because the person would not use the SB slot, and would only be using the Palm for PIM functions. Now that the price cut is taking place, I am going to retract that reccomendation, and tell them to get ICE Visor Deluxe .

i would have retracted my recommendation of the IIIxe mainly because it's no longer available! discontinued. done. Check out palm's website (the store portion...it's nolonger for sale).

In fact, i'd tell this person to wait a week or 2 and see what replaces the IIIxe.

Post Palm IIIxe replacement will be...

I read on the Palm boards that the IIIxe replacement will be an M105, built on the M100 chassis, black and white, with SD slot. Intriguing, but the M100 screen is so TINY. Even with the SD slot, I like the VDX better for springboard technology and larger display.

I went to Palm's website and the IIIxe was still there: http://www.palm.com/products/palmiiixe/
When you click on "Buy Now!" it says it's on back-order.

I don't think that I would ever reccomend the M100 to anyone. I hate the case, and I think that the design is so "unprofessional". Along with that, unless you have 20/20 viso, and a guarentee that you're going to keep that vison, the M100's screen is way too small.

The only thing m100 has going for it is that it's light. if the new ones maintain that, palm might have something...

I think handspring is just trying to stay price range as the new Palms.

They should just bight the bullet and reduce the price $50.

Think about it $99 for the solo.

I'm thinking end of year for new handsping models.
