In my opinion, this isn't a real product. sure it look kinda realistic and i congratulate whoever made it but it doesn't look like anything Sony would put out. it's like all those "artist renderings" of cool future PDAs.. pure speculation.. Any disagree? Jeff

Ok, I can't stand to see this thread go on any longer without saying at least this much....

It's an April Fool's joke!

It's OBVIOUSLY Fake. Look at the Palm OS Screen. It's blurred (the difference between the size MD Device and the Palm Screen resolution). You can tell someone stretched the screen to fit in Photoshop. Really a pretty bad touch up job. they should have taken a screen shot and added a longer menu bar, and then skewed it. Then it would have looked a lot better.

I too think these pics are Photoshop exports. Has anyone else noticed that all of the buttons along the bottom of the unit are from the Palm IIIc?

VoxDei,
It has not been confirmed, yet, that this is an "April Fools" joke. Until then all this is speculation.

The latest issue of Tap Magazine (weekly) had a short article about the same products... if this an April fools joke, it's fooled a lot of people... I'm inclined to believe that there's no joke here.

If this is no joke, this would be a heck of a Palm OS device! Think of the possibilities! You can have practically a MiniDisk FULL of mp3's!! Don't minidisks hold as much data as a CD rom? Only drawback would be the batterylife from the color screenand the minidisk player.

Oh well..
Mike

The link I followed on the VisorNews article took me to a picture of the item originally referenced in this thread!

I'd say the fact that James hasn't weighed in on this makes me a little suspicious about his sitting back chuckling as he reads the posts! Yes, it's true, that James DOESN'T say that this is an April Fools joke. What he does is "reveal" his own April Foools joke and then point out "another April 1st" item!

It also makes me more than a little suspicious that on the www.minidis.org main page, this link comes under a section referenced as: " Several folks get the skinny on some interesting equipment: the Sony MZ-R100, MZ-R110/120PDA and MXD-PCD3." and BOTH the "mz-r100" and the "mxd-pcd3" are explicitly April Fools jokes!!

(those Sony AP-FOL1 radiation suits look pretty cool though!)

I believe that it's an AFJ for several reasons:

No stories from major news sources (CNN, C|Net, etc)

Info on a new product was posted on April 1st (a Saturday)? Hmmmmm

Bottom line: I'll believe it when I see more reports on it. Until then, we may as well talk about Apple buying Handspring

Hello!

Look at the bottom of the page in that link and read...

"Sorry, April Fools! Thanks go to Shawn
Lin for the excellent digital darkroom
work."
