that is ridiculous...

Don't get me wrong, people here at work, fellow students, and even family members have said I take my handheld infatuation a little too far but $4050 is not worth it for the items. I can only make logic of it since it is a charity situation.

I mean, is Jeff Hawkin's signature worth that much? Or is it the tax write-off?

Tax write-offs are nice but one can go broke quickly spending a dollar to save 30 cents

It's at $4100.00 as of right now... and I found this little blurb interesting:

quote:
NOTE: For any bid over $1,000, Handspring, Inc. may need to validate the bid's authenticity. If you receive an email or phone call regarding your bid, you must respond within one hour or your bid will be invalidated.

And I hope there isn't a paint problem on the Prism, either

quote:
Both items will be autographed by founder and inventor of the handheld computer, Jeff Hawkins, and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

As a side note, it's interesting that this is the first time the public has had an indication from Handspring of the number of Visors sold. So it looks like the Donna Dubinsky just missed her goal of selling 1M Visors within a year. Hopefully it won't affect her Christmas bonus.

We can always take up a collection here at VC to help her out...

A month and a half over a year isn't bad... I could only pray that if were to develop hardware or software that it could get the same response.
