Question

Visor = Platinum

CPU = Sony PCG-430 laptop w/built in IR; Win98

When I follow the steps to IR sync. The Sony beeps - indicates signal receiving IRcomm then disconnects; repeat several times then Visor stops trying and errors out.

It seems the laptop is recieving the signal, but then not sending it on to the SyncManager.

Has anyone had a problem with Sony's or with Platinum IR Syncing? Any suggestions would help - I am scheduled to travel in less than a week and really don't want to pack the cradle.

Did you follow the IR Synching instructions in the user guide? I have a sony as well and after setting the hotsync to "local serial" from the default "local USB" and to the right COM port, it worked.

Yep. I followed them exactly.

Nothing happens. If I click "Search for and provide status for devices within range" then the Sony beeps - indicates signal receiving IRcomm then disconnects; repeat several times then Visor stops trying and errors out.

Thus a signal is being sent by the Handspring and being recieved by the Sony. Ahh!!! this is begining to piss me off. I have spoken to both Handspring and Sony support. Handspring said they would call me back, but has not done so. Sony was less than helpful (Reinstall the drivers - I already had done that).

WHY WONT THIS WORK????

BTW, what kind of sony do you have? How does it respond.
