I have only had my BVD for 3 days now, and love it so far. Today was the first day at work with it and some of the guys wanted to play with it, but of course the screen got all smudged up and got tiny little scratches using a deluxe stylus. I have already ordered Write Rights from Concept Kitchen and saw that they have another product called "PDA Screen Clean" which consists of a soft leather towel and some sort of wet paper towels. It claims it can make your screen look like new. Has anyone tried these? Do they work well, and do they get rid of the tiny little scratches? The scratches aren't bad now, but I am scared that they could become worse, if it becomes covered in these little marks. Hopefully Write rights will work well to protect in the future, but I am worried about comments that they make the screen look cloudy.

I am also looking for a case that can protect the BVD out in the field. Not so much a case to use it in, just something small and snug to protect it from getting banged around in my backpack or the accidental contact with the weather. The Otter case form Gear.com looks good and is very cheap at $13. Can someone tell me how they like the case? Does it hold the PDA in it snug? Is there extra room for batteries or a springboard module? If I do want to use the BVD in the case is it easy to use? And finally is the clear top case of any value, or should I go with one that has a padded cover?

Thank you for any advice.

Save your money on the "screen clean" and the pen-top stylus... the only things I've found from concept kitchen that are any good are the WriteRights themselves and the "Brain Wipes".

The WriteRights are pretty good. I use the WinCE style without the textured surface. My boss prefers the Palm style.

I purchased the Otter Box from Gear.com. The case doesn't really hold the Visor snug, it'll get knocked around a little. I have a small piece of styrofoam that I set under the Visor to make it fit tight enough so it doesn't shift. Theres room for extra batteries.

I always hated never being able to see the inside of a case ebfore I bought it, so here for your (and anyone else's) conveniance is a picture I took of it:

Its a little old, since I have a paper clip taped to part of the case (I now have Deluxe Styli). The white thing is the styrofoam strip I use to keep it secure. I added the stickers myself

Thanks for the picture Matt...I'm planning on taking mine on a hunting trip in AK if I ever get a GPS module. Kinda an all-in-one diversion.

I tried the Otter case on my Visor at REI, but Gear.com certainly beats REI's $19 price tag. Shipping is cheaper too.

Lee, I'd go with the extra padding and skip the clear top...as Matt pointed out, it is a bit loose anyway.

For "full" protection, the otter box works very well. I travel overseas I really don't worry about it knocking around my backpack or briefcase. I use the hard cover with a 0.25 inch piece of foam (iron board foam purchased at a fabric store) cut to fit the inside of the box. The VDX still moves slightly, but I have found if I place a Karma cloth under the VDX in the box, the VDX doesn't move at all.

The use of Writerights is a personal thing. Some people just cover the grafiti area. I use brainwash to clean between Writerights, but have also found the cleaning solution decreases friction if a screen covering is not used. Other than a space filler in my case, I only use the Karma cloth when i put on a new Writeright, since it seems to take away some of the initial Writerights "stickness".

Best wishes,

Thumbs up

Thanks you everyone for the info. I got my Write Rights today, still not sure about them. I like the feel of them but not sure about the way the anti-glare surface makes the screen look. I'll have to see how I feel after a few days. I will probably order the Brain Wipes later too, they can't hurt after all.

Mr Nichols: Thank you so much for the picture and your info about the case. It convinced me that the Otter case is what I am looking for, so I went ahead and ordered one. I wish I could see more pictures like that of things I am buying over the net.

Thanks again....
