CNet Reports Handspring Rebate Problem

From Handspring's support page:

"Where is my $50 Visor Deluxe rebate?


We sincerely apologize. We have experienced a delay in the processing of our rebate checks.

If your rebate request was received by our fulfillment house prior to May 1, your check will be mailed the week of June 18. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by USPS.

If your rebate request was postmarked between May 1 and June 5, please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery."

I don't see how that's a problem. 6-8 weeks is pretty good turnaround with a rebate offer like this IME. My Xircom springport rebate took 6 _months_.

I'm still waiting for my Rio 500 rebate. They said 8-10 weeks before you can even call them.

I just read at PDABuzz that Handspring will not honor the rebate for devices purchased at a discount. I am not sure about the details but did HS make that point very clear?

I was thinking about my rebate and it showed up in the mail this week. I received 10% off my visor at purchasde.
