Question

This is probably a no-brainer, but I cannot figure out how to beam .pdb files. There must be a way. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

smart doc and iambic reader (formerly docvis) allows you to beam pdb (palm database) files within the application. if you don't have those programs, pdb files can be beamed by using a utility called beam box or z'catalog.

I highly recomend BeamBox. Just make sure that the person you are intending to beam to also has the .prc, or they won't be able to recieve the data. Seems that PALM hard coded rules for beaming that prevent .pdb files from being transfered, and beambox works around it by calling it it's own data type and then naming it back once it is recieved into memory.

Lightbulb

Even if you have the registered version of BeamBox, you could use the standard Palm beam command to beam the BeamBox application to the other person. It would install on their Visor as unregistered, and they could then receive data files via BeamBox.

Exclamation Warning about BeamBox

I don't know if this has been fixed in palm OS 3.5.1h or whatever the new Visor OS is, but in palm OS 3.5 beam box causes a fatal error. You can get your pilot back with a soft reset but you can't beam with beambox on palm OS 3.5.
I assume that the problem is the same in the new Visor OS.
I haven't heard of z'catalog, perhaps that doesn't have the same problem.

Good Luck!

Untrue! I am using beamBox on the Prism with no problems.
I cannot speak for the newer PalmOS's but HandSprings version 3.5.2H1 on the Prism is working fine.

Glad to hear that Handspring fixed the problem, I know that on the Palm Vx running 3.5 beambox is more of a hazard than a benefit. Have you tried sending hacks or programs?
