Can anyone more knowledgeable than me answer a couple questions about modules - specifically the Soundsgood mp3 player.

Does the springboard architecture leave room for programmers to add functionality to existing springboards in the same fashion as the Visor itself?

I know there may not be a simple answer to this, but in theory, could someone write a hack to use the dial/button on the Soundgood mp3 module in other programs - sort of like the new Sony PalmOS offering?

If this sort of thing is possible it might significantly affect how I choose springboard modules...

Yes, most SpringBoard modules can be software modified to work differently.

For example, the InnoPak/2V that I have has had a software update already, which allows me to control the duration of the vibrating alarm (it didn't before).

I hear that the MiniJam also can be software upgraded in the future to be able to store apps in the MMC card that it now uses for storing MP3 files only.

I suppose that being the case, there should be no problem hacking into certain modules via software to make the hardware buttons work differently

Question

How did you get the software upgrade from Innogear for your InnoPak/2V?

Quick Response from Good

Good day David,

Excellent idea which will be passed immediately to engineering to be
explored.
It is not available in the initial release of the product but perhaps it's
possible through software updates to the module. We'll see : )

The SoundsGood audioplayer really is a great product. If you have any other

questions or concerns, please let us know David!

Subject: Tech Question

First off let me remark that I am very impressed with your product based on
the information available in the press. It appears to be thoroughly thought
out and well engineered.

I am curious to know if there is any possibility of using the hardware
controls on the Soundsgood MP3 in other Visor applications. Specifically,
is there any possibility of writing a hack to use the volume control as a
jog-dial (similar to what is found in the Sony Clie)?

If you can provide any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
David Schiller
