The 15th is what was reported from COMDEX. I believe it's currently in beta testing... I received an email about it a month or so ago but wasn't picked as a tester

Question Explain this product

I've heard VERY little about the thinmodem+, but I was hoping maybe you could enlighten me.

I heard that it is a thinmodem with 8MB of memory built in.

Thanks a lot.

Yes... a Thinmodem with 8mb of Flash RAM... it's supposed to be v.90 (56k) as well.

around 150 if I'm not mistaken

relatively cheap considering the cost of each component separately.

From Wal-Mart.com
Model No. TC2000
33.6 Kbps modem
Just slide it into the back of the Handspring Visor, plug in a phone line and you have a fully functional modem
Comes with preloaded install wizard, email and Web browser
Runs off the Visor batteries with little power drain
Comes with 2 MB of on-board memory

I think its just a typo, but they claim the Thin-Modem they sell comes with 2mb of memory.

I just followed that URL and the page said "Available to ship on 1/25/2001". Today is 1/24/2001.

I think what this date means is that the modem is in stock and if you order it today, it will ship tommorow. Those pages also are only for the current Thinmodem, not the Thinmodem+.

(email posted w/ permission)

John,

The ThinmodemPlus is currently in production. It should be available for release soon. I will send you an e-mail reminder when it is available, if you wish. You will be able to access the 8Mb of Flash memory on the ThinmodemPlus with included File Mover application.

We plan is to release the ThinmodemPlus with the V.90 (56K) code. It will also ship with a full version e-mail application from JP Systems called One Touch and Browse-it 2.0.

Thanks,

Go, Cardaccess!

It's a 2Pak! ;-)

It just gets better.

I was discouraged from buying a thincom modem by my friend who couldn't use his without multiple hard resets. Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix

1)Will the ThinModem owners have the opportunity to download an upgrade or will we have to buy new?

2)Will the ThinModem+ detect a digital phone line before having unprotected relations?

3)Will the ThinModem+ have a cell phone dongle?

CardAccess has stated that an upgrade to the v.90 drivers should be available to current owners. Unfortuantely, you can't upgrade the hardware as easily.

Since this is currently available in the Thinmodem, I would expect to see it in the TM+ as well

I don't think so.

I actually do believe that the current ThinModem does not have this feature, I know the Xircom does though...

Talking

Card Access has a picture of ThinModem+ on there website, but if you choose purchase, there's only the original. It can't be too much longer (I hope).
