Cool

The response to this Visor to me is phenomenal. If you could take a momemt to state the FIRST place/site that you heard about the Visor, that would be great, I am interested.

I first heard about the Visor on CNN.COM, in the Computing Section.

Thank You.

I heard about the Handspring and the Visor PDA on Slashdot.. I was in the market for a new PDA and so I checked them out.

Decided against getting one at this time because of the incredible deal at VA on the IIIx. I'm definitely going after an Ice Visor Deluxe when they aren't in such crazy demand, though!

I caught it on Yahoo. It was really a link to ZDNet. It was about a week before the official go live. I decided then I wanted one.

I was a little leary about some of the features and compatability, so I waited. When I heard about the pen nad paper order method I waited for the online store. I ordered via web on 10/06. Custom case for a Blue VDX. Might be here as early as next week. I hope it comes soon.

The ZDNet article was what grabbed me. I'd been flirting with a palm (no nasty remarks back there!) for about a year, but couldn't find a reason to retire my Zaurus.

I had a colleague introduce the Visor to me at work. He showed me an article from Wall Street Journal Online that he printed out. I ordered the next day!

I had been watching Handspring for several month awaiting the new product that was being developed under tight lock and key. I first read about the Visor in Walter Mossberg's "Personal Technology" column in the Wall Street Journal.

I told a palm user that I was interested in a palm v, he recommended I check out the handspring site. After we checked it out, I took his recommendation and ordered a blue vdx. Now that I've seen some realistic pictures of the blue visor, I wish I had ordered a black visor vdx. Dark blue would have been professional looking, I'm not so sure about this lighter blue version (what were they thinking).

The new plan---I'm going to cancel my current order and order the base black visor. When the color visor comes out, I'll dump my weak pathetic visor and buy the new state of the mind color visor. (By then handspring will have come out with more colors anyway) Still, what were they thinking?

I volunteer to be a visual ad-visor for this bunch of tech nuts; it's obvious they don't get out much or they simply are taking to much advice from the marketing creeps. The buzz over handspring is because of the power vs. buck ratio. Granted the Mac colors have added some spice and Mac users as well but this would have been possible with a selection of darker and more professional colors.

Another reason for the buzz is that handspring is basicly seen as the little guy getting over on the corperate giants. They should continue to send that message. At any rate, handspring is going to kick some palm butt for a while. My guess is it would have been by a few percentage points higher if colors were right from the start.

The funny thing is that I was on the Palmpilot site trying to be a Palm 111, when I read an article about the Visor. I then did some research and voila. Too bad that I didn't get it yet.

I had known about Handspring making a Palm-compatible when I read the first article on ZDNet. A few days later, Marcus started the site, and here I am!

Cool

I first found out about the Visor about a month ago (september) while visiting CNN.com (almost a daily thing for me now). They had an article about it in their technology section which had a link to the Handspring website. They weren't available yet, so I signed up for their mailing list, hoping to receive information about when they were available (they said sometime in october). I was almost sold on it instantly; not only the memory and springboard capability, but also the scientific calculator (I'm a chemist).

So as it turns out, I could've ordered one in september, but I'm glad I didn't because of the recent problems they had. I ordered the Blue Visor Demon (BVD) on friday. Ironically, I received Handspring's newsletter on saturday ;-) ...

I think cnet.com about a year ago or so. I then checked handspring.com - which had a boring page for several month - up to mid September.

I've actually been following the developments at Handspring since Dubinsky, Hawkins, and Colligan left Palm to start their new company. I heard about the Visor when it was first reported by ZDnet or CNN(I can't remember which one broke the story first.)

My company buys Palm IIIx's for all it's senior programmers and project leaders. I was looking into the Palm before I put in my purchase request and happened to stumble on PalmStation.com They had a poll running with the Question "Now that the Visor is shipping what will you do?" And overwhelmingly the answer was Buy a Visor!

So I went to HandSpring's web site to see what this Visor was. Wow! Double the RAM at $50 less than a PalmIIIx. So I ordered one on that very day, Oct 18th. It's only been 3 weeks so I'm still on track.

Cool

I had been wanting to get a PDA for some time. A friend had Nino, and I was considering one (What was I thinking?), but on my friend's recommendation, started looking into the PalmPilot. So then I wanted to get a Palm III. The boyfriend of a girl here at work had one and was going to sell it to get a Palm V. When I finally got to talk to him about it, he told me that there was some other product in the works that I should look into. I hopped on the web, and quickly learned about Handspring and the Visor on www.pimpoint.com. This was Sept. 13th. The next day I ordered one. Haven't received it yet since I ordered a blue VDlx.

I first heard about it in the Technology news section of a general news site some time in September. I was thinking it was abcnews.com, but it may well have been CNN.com, as Cashman mentioned.

I saw some little segment on the TV news earlier this year - a profile on Donna Dubinsky. Can't even remember whether it was network news or CNN, but I think it was network (which I rarely watch)....It caught my eye because it was billed as "a success story for a woman in high-tech."

At that point I barely knew what a PalmPilot was, but I saw a few people using 'em at trade shows...I ordered PIM software for myself at work and saw that it came with Palm sync option...I needed to buy a new address book, looked at Palms in stores and felt they really cost too much...then one day I saw the news item, I THINK it was on Wired, about the Visor coming out and costing much less than a Palm. Then I learned I was getting a promotion, would have to travel more as well as manage a more complex schedule...

I really can't pinpoint a "Gotta get it!" date, but it definitely happened somewhere along the way.
