Over the past few months, my synching has taken longer and longer (due to more and more AvantGo stuff) and, at times, the connection is lost before it completes.

It has become increasingly more difficult to maintain a conncetion and it is now at the point where NO data is transferred.

I place it in its cradle, push the button, and then the desktop attempts to "determine handheld configuration" but never gets past that part.

Before I re-install everything, I was wondering if other have had that problem?

I'm using Palm Desktop 2.6, System 9.04

Unhappy Same problem

I'm having the same problem with my Visor Deluxe,Mac OS 9.04, and Palm desktop 2.6. I also have Avant Go installed. I originally had problems with iLink and IR hotsyncs, but now it's also occuring with the USB linkup.

I did get it to work by going to the minimal OS 9.04 setup + Palm extensions, so I'm thinking some extension is conflicting and slowing things down, but I've yet to test which one it might be.

Try a minimal extension set and see if it helps.

Well, I tried DSRiley's trick as he describes at:

http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...p?threadid=8036

of using the developer's back door:

quote:

I found what works best for me is to use the developer's back door. Select HotSync on your Visor. While holding down the down button, tap the extreme upper right hand corner. You'll get a box that says "DLServer Wait Forever is ON". Now the Visor will wait until the user identification process is complete, and begin to HotSync properly

This seems to work for me. I tried synching today at work (completely different computer) and I have the same problem, which makes me think that it has more to do with something on my Visor than on my Mac.

backup folder

There's another thread here that sez the word from Visor techsupport is to either

1) disable backups in the conduit (didn't work for me)

and/or

2) remove the Backup folder from your user folder. (which did work for me, but kinda a big bummer to do).

It seems to depend upon the size of all the apps backed up in the Backup folder (I've got 3.6 MBs worth). Taking it out makes the hotsync zip right through the process.

I'll try the developer trick. I'd rather not be moving my Backup folder everytime :-(
