Question Should I buy one?

My Ice Visor Deluxe is over 2 years old and finally crapping out on me. I have found that I only use the expansion slot for back-ups at home. I like that the Edge is compact and has it's own metal armor.

The Treo looks cool, but even with the trade-up, it's WAY expensive. I'm on avery tight budget and I can't really justify needing it. Should I get an Edge or what?

Maybe you should check your local CompUSA and see if they still have a stock of Deluxes. The one here did (not marked as refurbished) on clearance for $50 a piece. If yours has worked for you for two years, and you like it, it's a cheap option to look into.

Either Toby's suggestion, or see what Palm is coming out with, PIC has an article that mentions they are coming out with a Sub $100 model - new OS and good price.

Well, I always loved my Edge. I never had any problems with mine, and like you rarely used the springboard, so never needed it.

I thought (as still do) it was awesome. Small, light, awesome battery, good backlight, etc.

Only thing I can think of is that you might miss the non-standard connector, so you'll lose some ability to buy keyboards, add-ons, cases, etc.

Talking Go for it...

I don't see any reason why not...I had to go with the Neo because I bought it back when the Edge was still above my budget...While I love my Neo, I think the edge would be better, though the next one I am going to get is a Treo 90...A nice looking product that I am sure will get a nice review...

Go for the Edge. I've had mine about a year now and haven't had a bit of problem with it. The size and metal casing is addictive. I used my wife's deluxe (my old one) for a week while my Edge was being upgraded to 16Mb. I couldn't believe how huge it seemed. I can throw my Edge into a pocket and hardly know it's there. The metal lid keeps it safe from keys, change, etc.

You can't beat the price these days either. I bought my at the discounted price of $299 (it had been $399) a year ago. I saw them in Compusa last night for $150. I hear it's even cheaper on the Compusa web site.

Mike

I really like my edge. The only real problem I had was the contacts on the back and the buttons corroding. I was told on here you can clean up the buttons and HS was really nice about fixing the contacts. They shipped me one free of charge. It came the next day, all I had to do was shipped the bad one back within 90 days in the box they gave me. The problem actually turned out to be the cradle and not the edge.

Browsing through Handspring's site I noticed they are now selling refurbished Edges for $129...only comes in Silver though (I personally prefer the Blue, but hey can't be too picky)...
