Question

Those of you with this module, how do you like it? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

When is it a good choice for a photo and when is it not so good?

There's already tons of info in the forums, just search on eyemodule. But I'll add my thoughts here.

- Bright lighting is very important. Without it, you get "static" in your images. Of course, you can fix this with the despeckle command in Microsoft Photo Editor or any image processing software.

- NiMH batteries only work with it when fully charged. Soon after, the software complains that voltage is too low to capture pictures. Use alkalines.

despeckle tool

I got an eyemodule for christmas. I've had alot of fun with it, but everyone's right-- if you don't have bright lighting the picture's don't look very good. What is the microsoft photo editor program? I don't have any of these photo editing programs, and adobe phototshop is probably too much (in money and features!) for my needs. I just want to be able to fix up some of my eyemodule pics once in awhile. Any suggesstions for cheap, easy software to do this?

Don't order from Staples.com...

...unless that's your best choice. I ordered my eyemodule from them because I'd found a $30 Web coupon, and staples has a $50 rebate offer on eyemodules til the 31st. Their web page even claims shipping will be "next day".

I placed my on-line order for an eyemodule on the 8th. I received an email confirming my order, but not until the 10th. It claimed I would receive shipping info when the product shipped. I checked "order status" on their web site and it claimed my order was slated for Jan 16th deleivery.

Today is the 17th. I still have no eyemodule. I called Staples' 800 number. They said the order would be delivered by Staples' currier from my local Staples store. The woman helping me said she'd call the store, and have them call me to say when the eyemodule would be delivered.

That was 9:15 this morning. I have not been called back. The module has not been delivered. My credit card was billed on the 13th.

Don't buy from Staples on-line. They don't keep their promised delivery dates.

Eyemodule-less Dave

I can't remember the link exactly, but I found it by searching for "eyemodule" on Yahoo.com's search engine. The coupon number I used is 91112. Go to http://www.staples.com and search for "eyemodule". The rebate info is there. You'll have a chance to try the coupon number when you checkout your order.

Heed my warning, though... Staples won't deliver "next day" as their web site promises.

Hope that helps.

Dave

Amazon had the eyemodule listed at $100 last night. I didn't see their $40 rebate any more but I still have the copy of the rebate form that I downloaded and it claims it's still good until the end of the month, which would result in a final price of $60. Kind of tempting.

does the rebate have a code on it that you can use or do you have to mail in a hard copy, and are you sure it doesn't have one of those 'not valid with any other discount, etc, etc' disclaimers?

You have to fill it out and mail it in. It says you can't make photocopies, but the only place I saw it available was as jpgs on the amazon site.

You can take a look for yourself:

There are several 40 or 50 dollar rebate offers for Eyemodule.

CompUSA, FRYs, Gateway, JandR...
You can try to combine the Staples one with coupon code 91202 for another $30 off.

You can look them up at RebatesHQ here:

http://apps.parago.com/weblogic/reb...go/searchRebate

select IDEO as manufacturer.

These rebate slips allow online form completion. The Amazon rebate is not mentioned, however I think it should be valid as a downloaded .jpg as you have posted. Where would Amazon customers get physical coupons??

I am trying to call RebatesHQ (1-888-221-4692)
to see if the Amazon .jpg will be honored. If net price is $59, that might be worth checking out.

I just got this response from RebatesHQ. Looks like you can get an eyemodule for $60 after rebates from amazon:

quote:
Thank you for your interest in this promotion. In answer to your question
about the rebate #00-31860, this rebate coupon is still valid. For this
promotion your purchase must be made between the dates of 12/31/00 -
01/31/01, and this submission must be postmarked no later then the date of
02/14/01. Please make sure you retain a copy of everything you mail off for
your records.

(and I don't even think the Big Bat ever had one of these, did he -- just BatTV ... what's that, eh?)
Even though I was never too happy w/my E.M. -- I might get a "back-up" unit for $60!
