Question

Hi,

Is there any way to secure the Backup Module so that someone can't access your data after a restore? I'm evaluating OnlyMe and like how it works securing the Visor itself but unfortunately it is disabled after a restore from the Backup Module.

Thanks!

I know that some security/lock apps *will* stay enabled after a restore...I use 'sign on' from CIC and it works. I bet there are others out there that do too.

Disabled? Really? Ouch. Better mention that to the author -- I found a different problem and he fixed it.

For stuff that I absolutely don't want people touching, I use Certicom's SecureMemo (there are free alternatives for people outside the States) or STRIP (technically a password-keeper, but it's useful for other small things as well).

Yeah, OnlyMe restores fine but doesn't actually do anything until after I launch it (using the password) and get out even though it still showed up as enabled - I have let the author know about this and he's added it to his list.

I'm not sure any of the time-delay lockout type of programs will be able to do much for the Backup Module. The Visor is wide-open after a restore and even if the lockout kicked in someone could just do another restore and get around it.

I'm trying to avoid using an special application such as STRIP since I have lots of information in various apps and don't really want to have to keep track of what is and isn't secure. It would solve the Backup Module issue, though.
