palmvnc and linux ??

I'm trying to figure out how I can use PlamVNC with the USB hotsync cable to control another computer. I've read and realize this can't be done in Windows because win2k doesn't like PPP.

Can anyone verify this can be done in linux? What I'm wanting to do is build a computer of out spare parts, put all my MP3z on it, and be able to take it to a friends house to listen. I figure I can use my visor to VNC in (with USB cable) and control the computer and not have to take monitor/keyboard/mouse.

can linux do this? if so what distro do you KNOW works with usb and this will work on?

tanx.
