I'm not sure serious chess players would buy a chess program on a springboard. I've used several for PC and GameBoy (ack!) and they've had enough problems that I'd want one that is upgradable.

Do you know something that I don't? Why shouldn't the SB be upgradable?

Maybe I'm being stupid.

Are "software"-only modules (like Tiger Woods PGA TOUR) upgradable in general? Do they have a small amount of EPROM for upgrades?

i already have all these games on my visor! why would i want a spring board module to hold 300k worth of games? seems like it would be better to come out w/ this on CD rom if anything to maximize potential market!

Yeah I gotta say, I've got some of these games already on my Visor. You want me to spend 40 bucks on 300k of games. I'll just spend twice as much and get 26 times the memory with the 8 meg flash.
I don't get it. Is this for the Solo, because its got less memory? Or is Handspring trying to make up for the lack of SB's by putting out software on them now.

Now the Financial calculator seems pretty cool, but is that just software or is there like a math co-processor built into it.

I think SB's can be useful for data only, but not 300k worth. I mean an 10 meg database, or a 2 meg book. But 300k of lousy games for 39 bucks?

Thumbs up Re: calculator modules

No coprocessor. However, the modules cost the same as the "regular" versions of these apps. Seems like a good deal to me . . . . For example, powerOne Graph weighs in at 187k; and that is too big for me without placing it on a module. Now I could get the regular version, and put it on my 8MB SBM; but that module is already crammed full of ebooks and iSilo reference docs. This solves a problem for me, and I'm sure that it will meet the needs of many non-VDX users for similar reasons.
