the very idea that glenayre would only sell the active link with a visor is garbage! i cannot believe that they are so stupid as to completely blow off all us people who have been checking their website for all these months!
it's a great way to thumb your nose at every single visor owner currently extant!
the heck with active link.

As I've said elsewhere, I agree wholeheartedly. I've been dropping by their website on a regular basis since James gave us a sneak peak of their unit.
What hacks me off even more is the lack of an explanation as to why they aren't offering it separately - I've heard variously that it's an unspecified software problem (directly from someone at Glenayre), and that it's a sheilding/interference issue (elsewhere on this board).
Very annoying.

Theory, only theory, for I have no knowledge to support this. Could it be that it is a software issue? That their device requires PalmOS 3.5 and thus the new Visor Platinum or Prism. Thus all the pre-orders that are currently being taken are actually for an @ctive Link with a Platinum. But Glenayre cannot actually say that currently, for they are under a non-discloser agreement with Handspring until the official release on Monday.

when you order, does it ask what colour visor you want??? If it doesn't than Platinum maybe the answer.

UPDATE!
I just got off the phone with PalmGear's sales department and the guy told me that the only color they carry is Graphite.......and that it was a Visor Deluxe. He wouldn't comment on any new products from HandSpring.
HMMMMMM.....

PalmGear usually doen't know what they are talking about in their tech departement. I've sent questions to them, and then they respond with completly different answers then ehat I find works (usually here on VC).
