I just found a very cool piece of shareware for the Mac...
A lot of the eBooks from places like memoware are broken up into tiny doc files so that the poor Palm users with inadequate memory can install them in little pieces (been there, done that). Well, if you have a Mac, a shareware app called Mac Palm Doc from Plum Software lets you catenate them into one big Doc suitable for your Visor Deluxe!

Get the beta, version 1.03 didn't work for me at all.
Disclaimer: I don't have any connection with the company, I just found it on Palmgear.
I had Anna Karenina in about 240 Doc files - now it's just 8. The Iliad and The Origin of Species I have as single docs. When catenating the files, you can adjust the order - no more finding chapter 2 between chapter 19 and chapter 20!
It also allows you to do more mundane things like create doc files from text etc.
