Unhappy VP won't connect

My VisorPhone stopped working recently. The symptom: it no longer connects to my provider, Voicestream. Nothing happened to the either the phone or the Visor. It worked the night before, and now it doesn't.

The batteries are fully charged. The Visor's batteries are full as well. The first thing I did was go to Voicestream and switch SIM cards with a known working card. Still didn't work in my phone, and my original SIM card worked in the tech's phone.

Next, I put my phone in another Visor, thinking maybe it was some bad software. Nope. Then I backed up my data and did a hard reset. Still won't connect.

Called Handspring today and after telling them all I did, they told me immediately that the phone was bad. The tech didn't even bother doing any troubleshooting with me over the phone (I guess I was thorough enough).

And the irony? I'm 15 days past my year warranty. Yup, $100 for a new one. I have a hard time believing that this thing is truly dead, after nothing changing. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried removing the phone's battery and letting it drain, thinking that it's internal memory got scrambled.

Thanks,

I'm assuming you mean that it can't contact the network when you turn it on. Have you tried adjusting your antenna? You can undo the screws on your phone to take the case apart. Then check out the position of the antenna -- make sure it is making contact with the circuit board.

Right, I can't contact the network anymore. I did take the phone apart and took some pictures. I will post them soon.

It looked like all the connections were making good contact, though it's hard to verify without the case being closed. I will try fiddling with the antenna some more.

Thanks!
