I've added rudimentary directory navigation support so now you can read and see doc files located in directories other than \Palm\Programs\CSpotRun\. You can download it from here:

This is still a fork of CSpotRun 1.1 so long filenames will show up in place of titles for MemPlug-side docs. Hopefully, Pi Tech will roll out CSpotRun 1.2 source code soon.

I finally got sick of seeing MICROS~1 style filenames in my doc list and I kludged together a fix for it and am posting it here for anyone who's interested. Just change the .txt extension to .zip for it to show up as a normal zip. Also files with .PRC extensions are now also shown. I have coaxed and kludged CSpotRun into reading and displaying *some* normal ASCII .txt files on the SM card but I am not enabling this feature in this download, because it doesn't work quite right.

This software comes with the usual GPL considerations and the further consideration that this is the first PalmOS app I have "developed" for, so take the usual precautions(full backup, save a copy of your current CSpotRun).



P.S. to the cross-posting gods: Sorry for posting this here but I felt this was the right place considering the target audience. Move-link or circular file as you deem appropriate, no hard feelings.

...having said this...

I have no trouble seeing the lon file names, this is wonderful. However, someone from MemPlug has put an updated version of the reader up which will keep track of the prefs.

In the version you have posted, it doesn't seem to make use of the prefs file. Can you do a little cut and paste on the version that is currently on the MemPlug site?

Actually, I don't like the way I generated the long filenames and would like to see how it *should* be done. Will you be rolling the updated CSpotRun source code into the developer's kit so we can take a look?

Will doc files with .PRC extension now show up in the doc list? I've read rumors in the Memplug Yahoo eGroup that CSpotRun can read text files off the SM card. Is this something you're working on? I'd just like to know whether I should continue development in this area.

1. I play a trick on the long file name generation. In stead of looking for the long filename, I just decode the header information of the pdb file.

2. Yes, it support PRC extension now. And I have filter out unsupported PDB or PRC format too.

3. It is rumors. TXT Just supported by accident in my last version. but with potential crash. So I disable it in this version. I think it can be easy to modify it to have a stable TXT support. Are you interested in developing it?

4. I just work on it on my free time... So it will be great if other developers working on it. It can really speed up the development. And I still have many other things working on right now

5. I will roll the source code into our SDK soon.

Doesn't that mean all changed version of the app must be made available to anyone, without having to own a Memplug, and that the source must be made available without having to join a developer's program?

Yes, long file names is great! MemPlug is fantastic (Now if we could get gMedia to display images not so pixelated).

I've been using v1.1.3 since its release & while movies look a lot better, images are still jagged - even if I manually resize them myself in Photoshop before feeding them to the Maker. Is there something special I should be choosing in the settings? Right now my best solution has been to store HSPhoto Album pictures (Which renders manually resized photos really well) on the SMC & move them over when I want to see pictures.

CSpotRun is great however! I love the long file names, makes it MUCH more useable. How about a color icon next release? I made one using RSCEdit buy yours would probably be better
