Thumbs up

Well, I finally got my Rhodiana Visor case.

1.Construction - VERY well made! Stitching is heavy, the ballistic nylon is thick and the case is even padded on the inside. The plastic retainer strap seems heavy, but I am leary of the stictching into it...but I guess I am just being pessimistic. The quick-release clip seems very well made and easy to undo.

2.Protection - It seems like it would protect the visro from being dropped at a standing height, although I'm not gonna try it! :-) However, the lower corners are exposed, but there is enough padding to keep it untouched in case of a drop. IMHO, the lexan stiffener is a waste of $2! It is awfully thin to stop anything blunt, but that is about it.

3.Belt Clip - Another finely crafted device. It seems to hold securely on my belt, jeans, whatever. It also swivels so the visor can move with you and not poke you in the leg.

4.Removal - I don't know what Rhodiana case you all have, but the one I have, removal is a BREEZE! I keep reading posts about fighting it out from under the plastic strip??? Did you ever think to unsnap the plastic strip? Maybe they changed the design, but now, you just unsnap 2 snaps and the Visor is free!

5.Misc. - I would have liked to seen an external stylus pocket. The elastic straps that are supposed to hold it to your hand I could live without. A cutout in the back to allow for a springboard connection would be nice. But it looks like this is a DIY project. I can cut an opening for the Six Pack modem connection and sew around it.

Overall, I would give this case a A+!

I forgot to add that it is actually a slight bit smaller than the leather slip case that comes with the Vdx! It is about the same thickness with the exception of the swivel clip and quick release snaps, but smaller because the corners are rounded.

Cool

OH, lordy, I think I'm going to die of embarrassment.
It never occured to me that those round things on the back were snaps!
You are correct, it make removing the Visor a breeze!

I agree with you, this is one well designed and well made case!

Liquid Man,
Do you think the six pack won't fit in the case without alterations? I just wondered if you had the 6 pak or if you knew more details. I thought it should fit based on pictures I had seen.
I agree, great case. I still have trouble at times even though I unsnap it with the visor getting snagged on the clear plastic strip when I pull it out. Getting better at it though.

arnall,

Yes, it appears as if the 6-pack will fit, however...I don't think the modem ports will be accessible. My solution is to cut an opening between the snaps to allow access to the modem ports, then have someone who can sew <g> attach edging to prevent the nylon from fraying.

As for the Visor catching the plastic strip when you remove it. Mine does that too, but I've found that it happens less frequently if you remove the Visor with the cover closed.

Hope this helps!

Just to make you feel better, me too! It seems silly, but the case ought to come with instructions! I wonder how many people struggle to put the Visor in the case the first time...

The only "complaint" I have is that the case should be "notched" at the on/off button, which is half covered and a bit awkward to use with the case on. I don't like the idea of poking it with the stylus tip, as others have suggested. Other than that, this is a GREAT case.

Cool

I love the Rhodiana's elastic straps on the back, they make the Visor adhere to your hand.
Now when I read novels, I can do it one-handed. I just have to tap the screen with the thumb of the hand holding the Visor.

Just got my Rhodiana Belt clip case today. Waited about 2 weeks for it - apparently shipping clerk was out with flu - I understand that one!

Very, very pleased with it after short time. Compact, small footprint and low profile.

I wanted good protection and low profile and I got it!

Belt clip seems to be very secure onto belt. Attachment to clip also secure since you have to press side clips to release case from belt clip. Have not tried driving with it and getting into and out of car etc, but I suspect the design is solid.

Case doesn't seem to be as tight a fit as earlier reviews claim and absolutely no trouble getting it out of case to hot synch or change batteries.

I don't know how long the clear vinyl/plastic holding the Visor top in will last if you remove Visor daily to hotsynch. That's the only weakness I see.

I use the Panache stylus and no problem getting it out.

Good protection/padding and style. All in all excellent product and one satisfied customer.

Question

Will this case, with the belt clip, sit flat on a desk? What about without the belt clip?

I got mine yesterday, exactly a week after I ordered. I like it. I tried to post a review in the Accessories area last night, but sometime between when I started writing it and when I finished I could no longer connect to the site. I don't know if the server went down again or what. I will post the review later.

Victim-
It sits level on a desk with the belt clip removed, but it would probably wobble if you used it that way, as it would rest on the two snaps on one end and the belt clip rivet (or whatever you call it) on the other. Assuming the non-belt clip version doesn't have the rivet, it would not sit level unless you undo the snaps. If you do that it should sit nice and flat and level.

I've got one without the belt clip rivet. You don't have to undo the snaps, it sits quite flat. Doesn't rock either. I love this case!

Cool

After reading all the posts I ordered my Rhodiana and received Sat - one week. Great service!

I echo all the great things that have been said about this case. The protection and ease of use are impressive, the belt clip works beautifully and I especially love the "ez-on, ez-off" design of the clip. I've had no serious trouble getting the stylus out the silo, no matter how far down it is and I've had no problem get the Visor in and out of the case.

My only concern is that after repeated use the clear plastic might begin to tear on one of the corners. It seems pretty thick, but a good tug seems like it might start a small tear and once that plastic is gone the case is essentially useless!

Please tell me that I'm being overly paranoid and that no one else has this concern!

I've had my Rhodiana for about three months and there is no sign of the plastic tearing.

IIRC there was one person posting here who had that problem. They contacted Rhodiana, and had their case repaired free of charge.
