I have omniremote. And when u create buttons, u can specify what type of buttom it is, and i noticed that there was a box for X10. And i tried to c if it would work but it said that i had to have a x10 springboard loaded on to make it work. But i haven't heard anything about a x10 springboard. Does anyone of u know anythin about this. And if it is double posted plz tell me where the old forum is. Thx. BTW, x10 is found at www.x10.com

I haven't heard of an X10 sprinboard either.
It would be pretty cool though!!

Hmm, I have been gathering information to be able to create an X10 springboard (if at all possible). I would be extremely interested in knowing if there was already such a product. I had sent an email to X10 asking if they were considering making an X10 remote springboard, and they said they were not planning to.

I believe the OmniRemote works with x.10 Ir receivers but not radio ones.

Check the discussion below. In it themaven said he had a beta of the Omniremote that supported X-10 RF. I'm not sure why they dropped the function from the production model.

I contacted Pacific Neo-Tek after I got my OmniRemote asking about the x10 support. I was told that it does support IR x10 (but as far as I can tell, I can't find IR x10 devices). They are currently working on a OmniRemote Plus that will support RF x10. And from a post I saw on the boards, they will have a upgrade/trade-in program....which is the only reason I have kept my OmniRemote piece-of-s**t.

X10's Entertainment Anywhere system uses IR to then transmit info to their RF modules in addition to acting as a base control for all IR devices in your home. Is a pretty sweet setup for the techno-junkie ( I have the full setup in my home ).

Are you sure that's how it works? I was pretty darn sure that the remote just acted like a wireless RF sender in addition to controlling your IR devices (TV, VCR, DVD, etc.). I have those video sender boxes, and they do not 'bridge' IR to RF. They just send video streams to each other, and one can take an IR signal and send it to the other box, that plugs into your amp (most newer amps have the right connector), but it doesn't transfer any IR data into RF as far as I know... I also have a pretty complete X10 setup at my house lights, appliances, etc. but only in my room I'll never have to get up off my @$$ again! Is that a good thing?

The remote sends X10 RF signals, and IR signals to your other components (tv etc...) its kinda neat, but not what was described before. It's two remotes in one... My biggested gripe is that it is not a learning remote and that the learning remote from X10 sucks because it lacks the dedicated X10 buttons like the DVD/entertainment/MP3 anywhere kits

My other complaint is that the Video senders are fairly dependent on line of sight (if you try bouncing signals off walls and then walk in front of them, you get distortion) other than that, it's pretty cool!

I would kill for an X10 module...

Thanks to this thread, I've aquired several X10 products over the past couple of weeks. This stuff is really neat! My wife thinks I'm nuts and the kid's hate me.

Here is a note I left on a PalmOS programming page about using AvantGo or Blazer's web browser with a Minstrel S modem for my Prism with x10 stuff:

Go to www.x10.com. They have all sorts of light switches, wall
outlets, video cams, motion detectors, etc that communicate over
existing AC wiring in a home. They also have two computer
interfaces, the ActiveHome and the Firecracker, that can control the
light switches, ect. There are dozens of sites with specs on
programming for the switches. FireCraxor and others even have
wrapped the code for the interfaces in ActiveX controls and offer
them free for non profit use. Get on www.google.com and look. I use
the Homeseer ActiveX control from http://www.keware.com in my web
page.

I would give you the link to my home web page so you can see how it
is done, but then I probably would have my bedroom lights going off
and on all night and WinAmp blaring out un-sexy music at inoppertune
times...

To do it, just register the ActiveX controls on your system:

regsvr32 <name.dll>

then use:

set objX10 = server.createobject("name.dll")

in server side script to get a reference to the ActiveX, then call
the ActiveX's methods like

objX10.On "A", "12", "ON"

to turn on lights, wall switches, ect

Easy stuff. Make an ASP page out of it that submits to itself and
run the page in Personal Web Server. Wala, you have a palm interface
that can turn off your lights, run WinAmp, email you a picture of
your front door, or whatever else you can do programmatically on your
PC. Great reason for getting a wireless modem for your palm. I am
considering making a button on my web page that plays a "get the hell
off the phone, I am trying to call you!" wav.

Maybe I can even set it up on a WAP browser...

It can be too much fun. Now that I have got it in web form, I want
to get a little better user interface with a little better security.
This is why I am looking for the AppForge TCP ingot...
