Hanspring sells a modem www.handspring.com
so does innogear www.innogear.com both are under $200
Yuo can send email throught your Visor but you would net aditional software.try going to www.palmgear.com and do a search for Aol.

But..neither of these modems are out yet. There is software that lets you use the cradle as a modem, but it does not work with the Visor - It may if you have a serial cradle.

Until then do what I did, sign up for Yahoo mail for free and tell people to e-mail both addresses.

AOL (or at least 5.0) has a downloadable free program available, AOL Mail for the Palm, I downloaded it, but haven't tried it yet, because I'm still waiting for my modem. [Actually, I don't use AOL, my kids do, so I'm only looking forward to trying it out. I'm still trying to decide what I'll use for myself]

Question

HELP! I have a question regarding handheld modems ...

When I travel overseas, I can dial AOL's access number in, say, Malaysia, and easily check email via my laptop. Would it be just as easy with a handheld modem??? How would it work exactly??? Does it depend on the ISP I'm using???

Any feedback on this would be much appreciated!

The Handspring modem is now out, but was only posted on this board in the last couple of days so you wouldn't have known.

Yes, Matt, it is that easy - as long as you configure the dial up settings correctly. I've done it (with the Palm and a normal modem) and it's pretty straightforward.

It would seem that they are trying to fill the previous modem orders first. The modem is no longer available for purchase, but it was available before. I guess they're trying to avoid the previous Visor backlog fiasco?

By the way, I like their new Visor Dance pic.
