Good experience with Edge?

I'm thinking about getting an Edge but I've seen so many complaints about it. The problem is it is usually the people having a bad experience that speak up the most and not the ones with good experiences.

So if you had a good experience PLEASE use the poll

The point here is to get people with good experiences to actually look at this poll and vote. The other polls have labels/subjects that people who aren't having problems with the Edge might just skip over. In other words, this is a pointed poll trying to bring out those that have had good experiences and hopefully show me that there is a better than 50/50 chance that I won't have to worry about getting a bad Edge.

It's called trying to get the full demographic instead of the select that have had trouble.

Hmm... after all the 'problem edge' reports, the voting here stands at 7 good, none bad. Talk about getting the other end of that demographic!

On a personal note with the Edge, I love it! I had Tony Rudenko (www.palmpilotupgrade.com) upgrade it to 16MB, and it's the best PalmOS device I've had yet (out of seven).

I think the poll that says problems with the Edge was 50/50 was an early poll. So I think these were the very first few Edges on the market. If I'm not wrong, almost all of them would be from the Mexico plant.

I don't think there are many from the Malaysian batch out there in the hands of those in the US. I think it's likely that those assembled in Malaysia would be for the Asia-Pacific market. Especially since it's likely that Chinese, Japanese and Korean proficient testers/engineers are easier to find here in Malaysia then in Mexico.

The only problems I've had with both Edges is that it seems the screens are quite "soft" and prone to minute scratches.

The wording makes a big difference. I've had two "problem" edges, yet I voted that I've had good experience. I think the only people who would vote that they haven't had "good experience" have already returned theirs; they probably won't check into an edge forum at that point. "Who's had a problem edge" seems to ask your question better, but people who haven't had a problem edge are going to skip over that thread. I think the answer your looking for will fall between the two thread mentioned.

Good point Josh, I guess I'll watch both (or all three) and see what happens. According to the rumors, I may wait a month and pay about $100 for a color Edge <laughs and thinks about how this might start another rumor>
