My coworker and I both sync mail with Outlook 98.

When I sync, I am required to be on our network, as it syncs with the server, not my own harddrive.

He syncs the data on his laptop with the Visor. We have compared settings in Outlook and the hotsync manager and see no differences.

One difference is that he syncs everything to Outlook via PocketMirror and I use the Palm Desktop. I don't think that that is the issue though, as several other coworkers use PocketMirror and some end up syncing to the server and others to their local systems. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it...

Help?

It sounds like your coworker has his Outlook folders set to be available offline. You can either do this by selecting each folder, right-clicking, select Properties, Synchronization tab and then click on the "When offline or online" radio button under the "This folder is available when" section. I believe that you can also do this by highlighting the top level folder (Outlook Today Mailbox - Your Name), right clicking, select Properties, click on Advanced, Advanced tab and check the "Enable Offline Use" check box. You will also have to set up a path to the folder (mailbox.ost is the default).

I think that should do it for you.

This is probably a result of how you use MS Outlook.

I set my Outlook to enable off-line access. This allows me to either connect to the server or just open the folders on my desktop. Typically when I sync, I sync via the desktop (off-line). It is noticably faster than connecting to the Exchange Server.

BTW I use Intelisync, but the principles should hold true for PocketMirror.

Hope this helps.

That's the confusing part. I have ALL of my folders available offline.
