Hi All:

Is there anything I can do to prevent my email from truncating when I do a hotsync? I have tried the regulay mail client, eudora Palm edition and Mail+ and all of the truncate my email. I would like to download my email in full.

Any suggestions or fixes/hacks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies.

In the mail program on your Visor, go to Hotsync Options. There is a button at the bottom marked Truncate. Click it and you can set how many characters it downloads, anywhere from 250 to 8000. This should fix your problem.

Is there any way to increase that figure of 8000 max characters?

I have long e-mail digests and would love to be able to read them without having to "cut" them up and resend them to myself.

Anyone?

With the built-in Mail app? I'm afraid not-- that how it was designed (perhaps, "poorly" designed, but "works as designed" nonetheless). TG Postman uses a workaround to get to about 32k with the built-in Mail app but that's not always guaranteed.

Some of the replacement mail applications will allow you to receive more than 8000 characters. But I haven't seen one that will allow you to suck down something large if you have the free memory to support it.

But then again, I haven't tried all of the mail apps out there, so YMMV.

Thank you!

Not exactly what I wanted to hear but alas... I suppose I could live with it. It's just that I take my e-mails and read them on the road most all the time. And it's very very aggrevating to get a third or a half way through my e-mail only to discover that it's been truncated.

Boo!

I'm curious... is this a common problem for others or do most of you rarely run into e-mail longer than 8000 characters? Now for me, about 15% of my e-mail is truncated. (I get big e-mail I suppose.)

Do most of you use the standard e-mail program or some other program.

And finally, ProjectZero,... what does YMMV mean?

I'm sure one of the industry-touting research firms has stats for this; but IMHO, it varies greatly with the individual and what he/she uses E-Mail for. If you only use it as the 21st century equivalent of your telephone answering maching and/or pager, then you may not get many 8K messages.

Personally, I use MultiMail PRO, which has something like a 60K upper limit. My two original reasons for using this program was that it supported multiple mailboxes (up to 4 with the version I have) and IMAP4 (which was used at the company I was with at the time-- I'm a big fan of IMAP4).
