Thanks to Ralf Biedert for sharing his find.
Go into the calculator, and put it in advanced mode. Calculate a number that would have a two digit number after the "e". A good example is 2 to the 128th power which would give you 340.28236692094e36. Then tap on the contrast button (bottom left corner). Hit <Done>.
Part of the 1st digit disappears. It's not a problem if the number after the "e" is only a one digit number (eg. 2 to the 32nd power), since then the left most part of the screen is unused in that situation.
