Have been synching fine for 4 months. All of a sudden I'm getting "unknown error" on trying synch with Outlook 2000. Soft reset on Visor doesn't help. Any integrity checking I can do on Outlook? THX

If you are using the USB cradle, try deleting the USB objects out of the Settings:Control Panel:System:Hardware evice Manager. Then shutdown and reboot Win2k.

If you are not using the USB cradle then you should use Settings:Control Panel:Add/Remove Programs to select and remove the Pocket Mirror and Palm Desktop software. MAKE SURE that you copy the directory (and all subdirectories and files) under the C:\program files\palm (or whatever you called it) directory to another location that is not under the \palm directory. Then after you uninstall the software, reinstall and copy that directory back. Try a hotsynch and see if it works.

If that doesn't work, you can try a hard reset. Before you do that you should use Backup Bitster (it's free) or some other backup software or the Backup Springboard to backup the Visor fist.

If all of that fails, then I would start checking out the hardware port on the PC that you are using.

Also, don't discount the possibility that:

1) Your PST file is damaged (requiring you to compact the file)

2) Or your MAPI profile got hosed.

I've had experienced with #2 where my PalmOS couldn't sync with O2K. To determine if your MAPI profile is corrupted is to

a) temporarily change it to prompt you for the login profile and password;
b) create a new profile (with the same services as the original), pointing to your PST file.

The profile prompting will allow you to choose the profile to use when PocketMirror "connects" to O2K. If you find that you're able to sync with the new profile, then *bingo*, your original profile is damaged and you should use the new one.
