Edge Adapter for the GoType!?

Guys, I have built for less than $3.00(ea). 3 Universal Adapters that basically 'uncross' the wires from the Edge to the normal serial cradle. All of which lock into place on the 'normal' cradle and hold the edge in place as well. Its amazing to me HS didn't come out with this.

However, although my adapter design is solid, compact, etc. It doesn't work.

I've used the pin layout charts posted in various threads, and I've tested the wires and they seem fine. All because I want to use my GoType, not the Stowaway.

When I try to hot sync, or get the GoType to acknowledge the Edge, nothing. Which brings me to my question...maybe I just crossed the wires up. Are the pin layouts posted online, as I look at the back of the Edge or from the front?

Thanks.

VDx Cradle Connector (I'm assuming same layout on GoType)
1 RXD - Receive Data
2 KBD* - Keyboard Detect
3 HS1* - HotSync Interrupt
4 GND - Ground
5 USB_D- - USB Data-
6 USB_D+ - USB Data+
7 VDOCK - Cradle Power
8 TXD - Transmit Data/Power

Edge Cradle Connector:
1 RXD - Receive Data
2 TXD - Transmit Data/Power
3 KBD* - Keyboard Detect
4 HS1* - HotSync Interrupt
5 USB_D- - USB Data
6 USB_D+ - USB Data
7 VDOCK - Cradle Power
8 GND - Ground
9 PASSTHROUGH1 - Pass Through
10 PASSTHROUGH2 - Pass Through
11 PASSTHROUGH3 - Pass Through
12 PASSTHROUGH4 - Pass Through

Is that when looking at the back of the Plat/Dlx

Same question for the Edge.

Yeah, I've checked Micheal's page out already. His success was my motivation for starting, after much procrastination.

The problem is that since the GoType serves as a hot sync cradle (which is why I want it.) I need all the pins, but have no reference as to which way the numbering is.

Thanks!

Pin #1 on the Edge, when viewed from the backside, is furthest to the right.

As for your wiring problem, you said you're only using 3 wires... I assume that means RXD, TXD, and GND. It may be that the GoType! needs KBD connected to GND. Since I'm not familiar with the GoType! I can't be sure.

Nope, I was using ALL the pins, but it turns out I don't need them. I'm building a new one, and will let everyone know the results.

Lightbulb Edge Adapter

I'm not sure if you've accounted for this, but one thing I noticed while trying to build my own adaptor is that the specs on the HS site are reversed (teaser - read more below).

One one of the spec sheets (either the VDx or the VEd) the spec sheet shows the Visor with the screen up.

On the other other the spec sheet shows the Visor with the screen down.

So, you have to flip around the machine mentally (to make sure your wire from 1 is going to 1 in the component system.

Success! I have a working cradle adapter. I works in both my GoType Keyboard, and my Platinum's cradle. I can sync as well as use the keyboard on the GoType. I even made room for oversized Springboards.

The trick was getting the cradle pin layout & Edge layout from HS's Developer docs.

I'll post picts when I get a chance. I'm going to make a second one (prettier & more compact) over the weekend.

Now if I can build one, why the heck hasn't HS put this out?
