What do you use your 802.11 Springboard for?

So I just bought a cheap 802.11 wireless Springboard for my Visor Deluxe. I'm just wondering what programs work well with it and what everyone uses it for. I've got wireless connections at my office and home, plus at several of my friend's houses, so I can use it quite a bit. Thanks!

Nobody uses an 802.11a module for their Visor? I bought mine and it's on the way. Just looking for some cool programs to use with this. Thanks!

Wireless networking anyone

802.11b is the wireless protocol Apple Airport basestations and Linsys Wireless Cable/dsl routers use. Use it with your wireless router, download Avantgo and surf the web without a tether.

I do have a wireless connection set up at my office and home and was planning on using the normal programs (Avantgo, Blazer) but was wondering if anyone is doing anything unusual and cool with it. Like, if 2 people have them, can you instant message or play games between them? Can you hook it up with your eyemodule and use it as a spy/web cam? I mean, it's a cool enough thing by itself, but I was just looking for something especially cool to use it for. Thanks!

There are lots of things for which you could use the wireless network adapter. You can check when the next bus is arriving just before you leave the library, download email or synchronize with computer at home, look up medical guidelines in class, etc.

I just wanted to send a quick note telling LuckyChuck thanks a million. I followed your link to Ebay and picked up a Xircom 802.11b Springboard for 100.00! How awesome is that! I paid 200.00 buck less than original price. I'll dance a little jig to that!!!

Yeah, LuckyChuck kicks ass. I just got mine for $108.95 after shipping and handling. I also bought a LinkSys Access Point to complement it (I checked online and found a review that says that they work together wonderfully).

The only downer is that I literally live within walking distance of Queens. This is bad because it means that my house is on the NYCWireless node map ("http://maps.nycwireless.net/node_map?protocol=&status=&scale=0.01596604832&lat=40.743239&lon=-73.894793" -- I'm in Valley Stream, on the extreme lower right of the map!), but since I'm not actually in the city, I don't think I'll be able to register my node with them! :/

I also bought the Xircom Wireless and the Linksys Access Point. Upgrade the firmware on the Linksys Access Point to the latest version and Xircom Wireless to v1.13. I am having problem getting Blazer talking to the Access Point. The worst part is that if I reset the Handspring a few times, it works. Then after I removed the module and reinsert the module back, Blazer will not talk to access point. I know it has been connected to the Access Point because I have looked at the status in the Xircom application.

Does anybody has that problem?

How can you hook up the Eyemodule and the SWE to the visor at the same time to make a spy cam? Impossible...

When I had the SWE, I used it for surfing and checking email on my campus' network. At home, I could never get it to work correctly with my SMC Router, so I sold it.

I too have been having that problem. I've tried different browsers and nothing seems to work. I've upgraded both the AP and the xircom module, but it didn't help. I can Hotsynch and consistently get a signal, both at home and work, but I can't consistently browse the web. Please help us!

I'm also having problems getting blazer to work. It just times out and says there is no connection. Funny thing is, when I go back and click on Status, the Springport has to reconnect.

Does anyone have problems with the springport dropping the connection? I have a laptop that maintains a rock solid connection to my Linksys WAP11

Yee: Are you using DHCP or did you give your Visor its own static IP address? Whichever one you did, try doing the other.

BTW, what version of Blazer does the SpringPort come with? If it's not 2.0, can you upgrade to 2.0 for free with it like you can with the VisorPhone?

Oh, is your problem limited to Blazer? What about other web browsers? What about other internet programs (like PalmVNC, which is one of my targeted critical apps)?

I have tried both. Using DHCP and static IP. Both do not work very well. I am using Blazer 2.0. I also have tried other apps, such as NetTime and Eudora. Both gave me the same problem.

The funny part is that when I go to the status screen of the SpringPort; it stated that it has been connected. I have done eveything such as disconnecting and reconnecting. Then, yesterday, I tried resetting the Visor and it works. However, the next time I tried again, it does not connect anymore. Therefore, in order for me to connect, I have to reset the Visor anytime that Blazer did not talk to outside world.

Did everyone get their Xircom Springboard module setup issues resolved or did the thread just die?
I just got one of them and am trying to connect with a D-Link access point, and like other, the Springboard says it connects but Blazer, Multimail and other apps can't seem to get a connection. When trying different configurations I did get Blazer to pull up the PalmGear site, but it wouldn't pull up any other sites!

Any suggestions as how to configure it?
