After reading James' story about the 1.2 Stowaway driver I decided to go ahead and upgrade. But, though I haven't done extensive testing, I think there is an issue with the driver.

After installing the 1.2 driver I starting having a very strange problem. I would use the Keyboard normally, then, poweroff and remove the Visor from the keyboard. If I then powered on the Visor and tried to enter text via Graffiti, I couldn't 'shift' (i.e. I couldn't upstroke to do capitals, and couldn't 'touch' to do special characters). It would still accept lowercase letters, but no shifting. I had to disable the keyboard and soft reset to get it working again.

Once I went back to the 1.0 driver, this issue was gone.

I do have some hacks, but I was running the same hacks with the 1.0 driver as with the 1.2, one has the issue, the other doesn't.

Anyone else ever see anything like this after upgrading?

I had that problem with the 1.0 ver of the Stowaway driver so i don't think it's a 1.2 problem. I 'solved' this problem by deleting and re-installing the driver (1.0) and it disappeared. (i've heard of others doing this aswell). I just installed 1.2 yesterday but haven't tested it yet. It would appear that a re-installation should solve the problem.

It was my impression that the new version (1.2) was supposed to address some of these issues. The problems you are reporting were commonly observed with the original version (1.0), most people reported the punctuation shift problem. I originally used version 1.0 and have upgraded about a month ago to 1.2, it seems that 1.2 works somewhat better for me, but sometimes I still have the shift problem pop up. It is very strange, because sometimes the problem is there, and other times it is not. I really don't get it. One would at least expect consistency. Most people (including myself) have found that the easiest solution is to disable and then re-enable the keyboard driver, that usually "resets" what ever is affecting the shift functions.

I use MiddleCapsHack, SilkyPad for number and some punctuation entry, and CharHack for the rest of the punctuation so even if I am having the problem there are other ways to get the text that I want into my Visor. Using the first two (MiddleCapsHack and SilkyPad) will at least allow you to write capital letters and put periods in.

However, if you did not have any problems with the original driver (1.0) then just keep using it. I don't think there were any "important" upgrades in the driver besides these supposed fixes.

This morning I've seen the same problem that plutnicki described.

I've been running the 1.2 drivers for a while, but this is the first time I've seen the 'no shift' and 'no punctuation' problem show up.

I have verified that I'm running the 1.2 drivers. I do not have any hacks (nor hackmaster) installed on my Visor.

Just another data point.
