I am able to browse through these threads easily using a Prism with a YadaYada Minstrel S modem but I get strange error messages when I try to post a reply to a thread.
This happens with both YY and Palmscape browsers.

Anyone been able to post to a thread as well as read the threads from a wireless modem/PDA combination?

Yes. I have done it using the AvantGo browser and the Eudora browser. Pretty cool, actually.

Rick, Eudora works like a charm!
I am posting this from the Good Samaritan Hospital, where I am visiting a patient after surgery.
I am amazed at the speed of Eudora on a Prism w/ a YY modem. Our brand new Ericsson T28 world phone cannot find a network to connect with at this location!

Omnipresent cell phones...and more

I am in Silicon Valley and it seem that 40% of the population is on a cell phone while driving or while walking on the streets. Life in the Valley rewards efficient use of time. In this hospital, the percentage is even higher. It seemed that more than half of the visitors are sharing news with relatives not able to be present.

I was the only person with a wireless PDA this week but I expect this will not be the case much longer. Becoming wireless is a trend that will not abate soon.

People want faster and more convenient communication with friends, work and with information sources and are unwilling to accept geographical or procedural barriers. Wireless email, instant messaging and virtual network computing will be the killer apps for wireless PDAs in my opinion. Then there is wireless browsing which is unbelievably addictive. It's far more fascinating than TV channel surfing.

That's why I am looking at all of the functions which we should be able to do with wireless PDAs like posting replies to these discussions, downloading zipped software directly into your PDA, accessing and running your home system from your wireless PDA. So far, we are three for three. What's next? I am working on a setup to look at my home security camera from my PDA. Should have it working later today... Inexpensively, too!

How do I access and run my home PC using my wireless modem and PDA?

There is a great new product Win VNC which allows you to set up a server on your home pc system and communicate with your system from a palm OS through a TCP/IP connection. I downloaded it (freeware) and installed it within 30 minutes on Prism and my PC. When I accessed the URL of my PC, I saw my desktop on the Prism screen! l can zoom in on any area of the desktop and can operate the PC REMOTELY. My system is on a DSL line and is behind a firewall. This Win VNC app is very useful. I have all sorts of plans which are achievable now.

Nothing better than sitting in Starbucks operating my home computer via my visor. Finally a mobile office. David, how did you set it up to zoom? It disconnects everytime I try.

There is a VNC viewer and VNC on my desktop. What do I need to do with those to get this to work? I'll see what I can do with the 5900 port when I get home in the morning.

Well, I can see in the log that the request hit my firewall and was refused. I need to know how to open the 5900 port in ZoneAlarm. Any help would be appreciated.

For some reason, AvantGo won't let me post on VC. I dunno what the problem is, but it might be related to all of the other problems that I"m having with my minstrel. I've spent about 4 hours with tech support with yadayada, and I"m hoping for a solution soon. Hopefully then I will be able to post wirelessly.
