Are there any alternatives to IrLink? My 30 day demo expired. While I like to do a IR hotsync, I don't think I do it enough to justify the $20. registration.

Since the IR enhancement is separate & free, is there any other way to trigger a IR hotsync?

You can use IBM's Workpad Sync. If's freeware. It available here...

I use it and it works fine. From what others have said, I gather it is slower than IrLink. Still faster than getting out my cradle, hooking it up to my laptop and then the reverse when done syncing.

Thanks for the tip! This is exactly what I was looking for! But let me ask you: you are running this on a Visor, right? Did you install all four of the .prc files? The reason I ask is that the instructions are specific for IBM and I remember reading threads describing how you can lock up the Visor if you install the wrong IR update.

I have all four .prc files installed on my Visor Deluxe. I've never had a problem.

In fact, I've only synced my Visor twice from a cradle since I got it in December.

Other people reported here that they couldn't do a USB cradle sync after installing the WorkPad sync. I gather the two cradle syncs you did were serial. I think there might be a right combination of drivers from this and the 3com IR update to make it work, and I was wondering if anyone had tried to.
