My VDX eats batteries, about one week usage max.

I think it may be due to using IR synch. I use it (synching) once or twice a day, plus normal usage (say 1 hour a day) for PIM information lookup, and games.

Any ideas?

IR uses more battery power than almost everything else (Either it or the backlight drain the most, can't recall).

Yup. IR takes a TON of batteries, and when you sync it's not just sending data to someone else, it's 2 way, and it can take awhile. Get a cradle, and save yourself money from batteries, or get a FullCharge

alright, will use cradle while in office, and save synching for when I'm traveling and don't want to lug the bulky cradle.

(since I am stuck with serial cradle since I use Win95).

Doing an IrDA sync with low battery power often just causes my Visor to shut down. And "low battery power" has meant < 70% full (using NiMH batteries, and the battery gauge set for NiCad).

I've heard that the IrDA on the Visor uses power straight from the batteries (or at least, more directly than other parts of the Visor, i.e., power management is not used.)

However, I'm hardware-ignorant (among other areas); any knowledge on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
