ragamuffinn's right on. But for the price difference between the chargers, and the fact that the fast charger is, well, fast, the $25-30 extra you spend on the slow charger buys a lot of batteries.
Reality Check! -- If the battery lasts 500 charges and you get about 1 month/charge then one set of batteries may last you 40 years! Even if you quick charged 2 times/month - 20 years isn't that bad. And you should get at least 2 or 3 sets - one in the Visor, one set as backup. At $2.50 each it is a bargain! And, you probably will never have to buy AAA batteries for your PDA again.
Hmmm, might as well go all the way with this. If you are using alkaline batteries at 2/month then they would cost about $30-$35/year. A charger is $25 and 4 batteries are $10. So everything after the first year would be gravy with the NiMh.
