On the last couple syncs, I noticed that my VDx has a loose connection to the cradle. It does not "snap" into place.

When I try to sync, the only way I can enable the connection between the VDx and the cradle is to push down on the cradle below the buttons -- pressing the wire connectors into place. If I let up on the pressure during the sync, the VDx connection is lost and the sync stops.

This wouldn't be all bad, except I cross-sync with TrueSync between my Palm Desktop, my VDx, Yahoo! and Outlook. This is a 10 minute process - longer if I'm uploading Eyemodule images. Not only is it inconvenient, my hand hurts!

Has anyone else experienced this problem - and how have you addressed this?

Me Too

I thought that I may be the only person with this problem. Either I lose connection half-way through a hot-sync, or I cannot sync at all, without holding the visor firmly down in the cradle.

One thing is for sure, I have a serial cradle at work, and the USB at home. It happens in both cradles. I think that this should mean that it's Visor related, not cradle. I think I'll try to clean the contacts with some alcohol tonight when I get home tp see if this clears up the problem.

Anyone else, other than us 2, with this problem?

I kinda have the same problem. My visor wouldn't start syncing in the cradle or midway through it would get disconnected. I find that if I slip the bottom foward in the cradle it seems to sync fine.

Thats just my solution, but one other way that I can do it is to set the visor down in the cradle and not snap it into place, it also syncs up fine like that.

alcohol and cotton swap

I just the alcohol/cotton swap thing, and it did the trick. I didn't have to jockey my visor around in my cradle prior to hitting the hotsync button. I just placed it in and hit the button, and viola! (I did the cradle contacts too)

Thanks for bringing this up, I thought I was the only one with this problem. I was just living with it.

Wow - great response!

Gosh - VisorCentral is the greatest. I never would have expected some solid responses in just a few hours.

I think I'll try Visorholic's "loose" connection idea tomorrow. I used to sync like that right after I bought my VDx, but that's been a while. (I learned that you can "snap" it into place...)

The alcohol solution sounds interesting...LarryN, is that something you have to do regularly, or was once all you needed?

Nope, first time here

I figured it had to be the contacts, since it was occurring on my brand new serial cradle, and with my usb cradle at home. Hope it works for you too!

Second try

The "loose fit" was not a success. Oh well.

I swabbed down the contacts with limited success. I've gone from never being able to sync without holding the VDx firmly in the cradle (using downward pressure to make sure the contacts touch) to a roughly 20% success rate of a "normal" sync that doesn't cause carpal tunnel.

My only other thought is that the contacts are bent and are not touching. I've got no idea how this could be - they both look normal to me. Has anyone else had this experience?

Are there any other ideas?

Sorry to hear that Morris. I haven't had a problem with my GVD in either of my cradles since...

There should be a little tab on the slanted back "wall" of the cradle, and a corresponding hole on the back of the visor. If your visor is going in the cradle correctly, this little tab should hold it in fine. If your tab is broken off, that might cause your problem.

There are also hooks on the cradle on either side of the contacts, and corresponding holes on the Visor. Make sure the hooks aren't broken or something is in the holes.
