Sprint PCS Digital Link

The long awaited Springboard module from AirPrime is finally NOT listed as "temporarily out of stock."

Hopefully this link will take you to the phone part of the site.

I wont be buying one until I get the money in a month. But I am getting one for sure.

Sprint better than Voicestream?

More like it's CDMA vs. GSM. In my opinion, GSM is not doing so well, in sales that is. More people here in Hawaii are going the CDMA route(Sprint) than with the Voicestream.

The Sprint springboard has several advantages over the VisorPhone.

1. Longer talk time and standby time.
2. Sprints upcoming 144kbps internet connection
3. Better coverage on the mainland US and Hawaii

VisorPhone advantage over the Sprint PCS

1. Much cheaper price for the module(free vs. $249.99)

Software between the two are almost identical.

If you travel within the US more often, the Sprint PCS phone is a better bet. My co-workers with Voicestream always left their phones at home when going to the D.C. area.

Does anyone know if exsisting Sprint customers will be able to keep their exsisting phones activated with the same number? There are times where I would like to go out without having to worry about carrying a big bulky Visor (bars), and times I don't want to worrying about two devices (office).

I asked people at my local Sprint store and they were clueless.

SprintPCS does not allow multiple phones to have the same number (I'm not sure if any carriers do).

Right. Pretty much you would have two phones with its own phone number, but you would be sharing the minutes.

Hey, thanks for the help! I guess I'm going to wait until the price comes down like the VisorPhone did. As cool as the Sprint setup is, my Prism is just too bulky to be walking around with as my "main" cell phone. And $280 (w/activation?) is way too much to spend on a part time phone.

After speaking to about 10 different people at SprintPCS I finally spoke to someone who could help me (sort of). The Digital Link did not appear on anyone's screens and they kept on telling me that I had to go into the stores to buy one. I was able to put in an order for the Digital Link and as soon as they arrived in the system I would be shipped one (although he didn't know when). Has anyone else had any similar experiences?

Sprint PCS Digital Link

I just got one of these this week.

Hooked it up to my Visor Prism. It works really well. Well, almost.

I had a fatal error the day I installed it. I had to perform a hard reset to get it back. Good thing everything was backed up on my PC.

It's a little heavy, but that's due to the batteries.

The salesperson at Sprint PCS said it was out of stock and would not be in for several weeks. I asked to order it and place it in backorder status. He did. Two days later, it shows up in the mail.

Same thing happened to me Symon. I was told it was on backorder and received it 2 days later! I've also been getting a lot of errors and have had to reset my visor a few times but none of them caused a hard reset.

Can you guys give a review of the phone? What is the quality, sound, reception, battery, etc compared to other phones you may have? Did you get the wireless web or voice command, did they give you a ISP # or do you have to use your own? I keep my VP in all the time but will get a normal phone unless the new phone has better reception and they give you an ISP #.

My demo unit from Sprint will be here tomorrow! Look for a review in a week or so (after all, I need time to play around with it and put it through its paces).

I got mine last week. I have been happy with it. Only problem is somtimes it will not ring. I do not know why, The screen turns on and the incomming call is displayed but no sound. I think it is a bug. Anyone else had this problem?

Just got done with watching the interview with AirPrime, the actual developer and manufacturer of the module, and the spokesperson said that when Sprint PCS mose over to 3G in June, the standby time will go from the current 300 hours of standby to 30 days of standby. Wow.

work with the Seiko Thumboard or the SnapNType.

I've heard the Visor Phone doesn't like one of
these (maybe both, I don't know).

Since a big part of using this unit will imply
typing and I'd like to avoid graffiti having
a small typing solution is sort of important to
me.

From what I've heard of the SnapNType its sort
of problematic to start using it with an application so
using it with this module might be an issue.

Any info is appreciated.
