Talking PiDirect & Eyemodule2

I am not sure if it is true or not.
PiDirect is now compatible with Eyemodule2 files. Image the possibilities. Carry thousands of E2 pics and hours of E2 videos in your memory card view them anytime anywhere.
Other apps are working as well:
Avantgo
KDIC
Noah Lite
...

It seems that PiDirect is a lot more in shape then MSMOUNT!

Check the PiDirect Capability List under the memplug forum http://groups.yahoo.com/group/memplug/ for details. You need to join the forum to gain access to this database

how is that possible? doesnt the memplug have to be in to use pidirect? so how can pidirect save em2 images? does it stagger em through or something? anyone?

uh... you have to remove the memplug to take the pics, then remove the eyemodule, reinsert the memplug, and copy the newly taken pics to the appropriate subdirectory, where they can be viewed with PIDirect.

ok.. so you copy the em2 db to the memplug... i understand that... but how does that let me take extra photos? dont i have to copy it back in order to use the em2? or do i have to keep creating sub dirs, and moving each batch to a different location?

can you give me more detail? I would try it out myself, but I am still awaiting my 64mb card in the mail so i can use my new memplug.... should be here any day now.

OK NutCase,

You picked your own name, right?

I have a registered copy of PIDirect because I am a beta tester. So, we will use the registered version for this example. It would work with the beta but you could only have 19 pics plus the app in the \Palm\PIDirect subdirectory...

First of all, I have 16 subdirectories on the card, more for the sake of organization and faster sorting than for any other reason. So, I would make one of my subdirectories \Palm\EM2\. In this subdirectory I would place the app and my pics.

Now, I want to take more pics. I would copy the EM2 app to RAM and remove the memplug. (If the app loads off the EM2 module, you could skip this step) I have 5mb of free RAM because all but the most vital apps and databases are on the 128mb SMC with 30mb free. ( lots of movies and games)

I would then put the EM2 springboard in the Prism and take a bunch of pics. When I was done taking pics, I would remove the EM2 module and insert the MemPlug. I would then copy all of the pics that I just took to the \Palm\EM2 subdirectory. Then, I would delete the EM2 app and it's associated pics from RAM because I have them on the card now.

Yes, I could move the pics to the card but I have found that "Copy/Delete" is quite a bit faster than "Move". I once again have 5mb of RAM free after the delete.

Now, when I want to view the 200 or so pics I have stored on the card, I enable PIDirect with it pointing at the \Palm\EM2 subdirectory. The EM2 app shows up in the launcher with a little symbol beside it, I select it, wait for the liitle delay while it loads and then admire my work.

When I get tired of looking at my Pics, I enable the \Palm\Games\ subdirectory and so on and so forth.

Does this help?

Regards,

But than, say I wanted to take more pictures. Do I make another folder? and than evnetually have like 5 folders each with their own burke databases? and when I copy them onto my comptuer how do I do that?

sschweg, yeah... i picked my own name years and years ago. one of these days i will pick a new one that has a bit more relevance, but i am sorta stuck with this one for now, as people know me by it. you can call me ryan if you prefer... i dont really care one way or another. :P

Anyway, i think miradu sorta sees what I am saying... i think all the pics are stored in a single db file... not individual jpgs or whatever. So its hard to just copy over the new ones... it seems like you would have to copy the whole db to the visor, add pics, and copy it back to the memplug.

Does that make sense? BTW - how does one get on the beta team for the memplug? :P

Sorry Guys, didn't realize that EM2 put all the pics in 1 big database. This is not cool. Would this work?

This would work. You just name each database differently. Like burkevga1.pdb, then burkevga2.pdb. When you move it to RAM, rename it
to burkevga.pdb and view pics. Then delete and move in another database. You would also have to move in burkedb.pdb. I think those
are the correct file names. But you get the idea.

Nutcase et. al.,

I don't have an EM2, just an EM, but I did discover today that I can take some pics with the eyemodule, then move the db to the card, rename it, take more pics, move, rename, etc.

Then put Handsprings free Photo app in the same subdirectory, enable it, start Photo and all of the renamed DBs show up as albums.

I don't know if this will work with EM2 but thought I would pass it on.

Regards,

Steve
