How come sometimes unread posts (or topics with unread posts) are displayed correctly (red folder or lit bulb) but sometimes they're not (no red, white bulb)? I've even had them change in the middle of a session (red in some topics but not in others). Is it just me?

I believe it has to do with how often you refresh the page. On the main Discussion page, it shows your username along with the date/time of your last visit. Only new posts (on the main page) since that date/time appear with unread messages. If you refresh a page manually, any new postings will appear as such.

If you enter the forum, but don't read anything new, and then exit, chances are that when you come back it will appear like you missed messages. Again, it has to do with the date/time of your last visit as well as how often you (or your browser) refresh pages.

Correct, and if new postings in your current session happen, sometimes you'll see a red folder where there wasn't one before.

Timeout problem?

I too am having a similar problem:

I start reading the dicussion boards and I post a reply. Then after I post the message and return to the boards, all of the threads that were shown as new (red folders) have been "unmarked" and returned to normal yellow.

This does not happen all the time. It seems to only happen if I spend a long time writing my message. Too long and zap! go the red folder icons.

There seems to be some sort of timeout on my session. After this timeout, VisorCentral seems to think that I have logged out/quit my browser. So from that point on, the system resets the new message date and time.

This just happened to me tonight. It is getting very annoying. Can anything be done to fix this?
