I'm on an imac with os8.6. I'm trying to hotsync my mail, and the only way I am aware of is with multimail conduit. I can't get this to work. As soon as I start hotsyncing, i get an icon flashing in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Its an applescript icon. I don't know what to do. HELP!!!

ryan...

sorry to hear about your troubles. i've got mine working fine... which means it can be done.

that applescript icaon is probably appearing because the script multimail is trying to use literally "does not compute"

see, what happens is when you sync and it comes to multimail's turn in the queue, it in turn tells your mac to open the email client and then sync the mail to the visor. you can modify the script by changing the email client, or by telling it to sync only unread messages, or number of days, etc.

have you checked to make sure that multimail is looking for the right email client? in the hotsync manager, open conduit settings click on multimail, and make sure it's set up with the right email client (oe or eudora or whatever). it also helps to only transfer unread mail.

if that doesn't work, i would uninstall multimail, and reinstall it.

hope it helps...

matty.

I know how to fix this.. It has happened to me too. First, go to the application menu where it's flashing. Select the problem app which is really applescript. It just needs to know where outlook express or whatever email client you selected is. once you select it, it will either continue or stop and the next time you synch it should work..

I have tried uninstaling/reinstalling MMC without effect. I still get the applescript icon flashing when the MMC tries to sync. As I am a total dummie with applescript, PLEASE help me?
When Scripteditor opens the script with the error, the word "...names..." (the last line of the included script) is highlighted. Can someone with the expertize help.
Thanks!
G.

Red face

i spoke too soon up there.

help...

i've been syncing just fine for months (months!) and today i had my first sync weirdness with multimail. as my imac running 8.5 loads the conduit, it freezes, crashes, and cannot complete the sync.

i've been syncing alot with the multimail conduit on "do nothing" lately, but i switch back and forth all the time. this is my first issue with the hotsync. i haven't updated the handspring fix, yet, either.

any thoughts?

matty
