Smile

Today, the stars aligned, the Gods smiled upon me, and I beheld the power of memory! As luck would have it, in the course of one day, I received my Prism back from Tony Rudenko's 8MB upgrade service, got my Hagiwara 16MB memory module, and opened up my Matchbook module too! That means I have a whopping 16MB internally, 16 to match that on the back, and tons of storage on CF cards. Tony's workmanship was wonderful, the extra 8 works seamlessly with my original 8MB and I truly can't see any difference in speed or battery usage. Hagiwara's extra "oompha" in the springboard has been great! In just a couple of hours I nearly had the whole thing filled with data that I have been dying to get on my Prism. As if 32MB wasn't enough, I threw a bunch of maps, pics, E-books, and more on a 16MB CF card to take with me. The days of penny pinching for memory are coming to an end. I must say that I agree with Palm's theme of "symplicity", but in the case of memory, sometimes more is better.

Y ou say you have nearly filled the memory you currently have available, does this mean you are now looking for 64Mb on board, and a 128Mb flash ram?

Isn't there a saying about stuff expanding to fill the space available?

If any one needs that much memory, get a PPC with a cf microdrive card, it is my personal opinion that the PALMos dosn't deal with that much memory very well, mostly because it dosen't have a real filesystem, only a database system.

Personaly I'm looking at the Kingston 2 gig datapack. IT's a 2 gig microdrive style hard drive in a Type 2 PCMCIA form factor. Can your palm do that? Only if is... yadayadayadayda

hehe

Trouble is that there are not nearly as many programs available for the PPC as there are for the Palm OS. This is especially true regarding medical applications. Therefore, you can have as much memory as you want, but you are lacking programs to fill the memory for.

while your right about medical applications, there diffently aren't many for pocket pc yet, palm does have that advatage, though speaking from first hand experience There is no application that I had for my palm that I can't have for my i paq.

What has dawned on me, is if memory is realy that big of an issue I'd sugeest a TRGpro, if TRG would jut update that unit with a VZ processor and a better LCD then I can't see a better palm unit. (sorry handspring, the phripority connection killed you.
