I thought read somewhere that it was the CPU that couldn't handle more than 16 MB RAM. I guess I must have read wrong.

I had my NEO upgraded to 32mb several weeks ago. Works great and now I have to seriously work at finding things to fill it up. When mine was upgraded, a very small patch program was included which enables the 32mb of memory to be seen so I am guessing that it is a "patch" of some sort to the OS 3.5 in the Neo.

SOowhat happens after a hard reset? Does the patch program get deleted and the 24MB extra is unavailable until you sync again? Or does the memory retain what it knows past the 16MB limitation?
I put the patch program on my memplug and several devices with memory (minijam, etc) just in case. I have not had to do a hard reset but I did back everything up and take out the batteries for an hour or so (probably same result). I then put the patch back in from the memplug and did a soft reset (the program is activated by a soft reset then the program can be deleted). I then just restored everything. I am not really well versed in the technical aspects of this other than to say I am REALLY happy with the upgrade and have had absolutely no problems.
