Thumbs up

Hey, here's a thought, what if someone made a module that you could use the visor for a tuner for your guitars? On the top of the module you could have a hole for your electric guitar, or from your pickup, and accousitc guitars could use the microphone on the visor itself. then, it could use the display to show what's going on. Really, it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do, and it'd be cool, i could think of a lot of good stuff you could do with the software.. maybe ship it with PalmChord or something like that... anyone interested in developing?

I actually really like this idea. You could make the springboard so that the notes used for tuning are user-controlled. I play mandolin and it's a pain to use a guitar tuner to tune my mando because the tuning is different. If you could make it for under $30, I'd buy it.

While we're at it, how about a "musician's six-pack?"
1. Electronic tuner
2. Metronome (w/ flashing LED and click sound)
3. "Voice" recorder that can be used to record small bits of your playing
4. Chord charts for string instruments with frets (guitar, bass, mando, etc.)

OK, so that's not six things, and some of the above probably already exists in software form. But you get the idea.

Let the development begin! :-)

hmm.

I think that is a very vey good idea. I would love a metronone like that, and then I could use it to tune a piano. hmmm,, what could make it a sixpack.. How would it utilaize a visor though other then a screen. ?

Another option would be something like an OmniRemote -- something where you could remotely control various recording/playback equipment.

Or you could have a little guitar pick that swings out on a hinge...?

I think the keyboard players in the audience might have better ideas for Visor-friendly applications than the string players.

Cool idea... I like the switchblade style pick too!

How about a midi input to either allow you to set the tuning to different frequencies, and maybe some internal storage for a few midi samples... I could make annoying repetative midi songs on the train, and put 'em on my web page to annoy all! Hey, for that matter, build in a real speaker. yeah, yeah. Call it a seven pack. no copyright infringement discussions in this thread.

I've got a Korg tuner that you play the note and it will tell not only if your in tune but what note your playing.
Since I play clarinet and am learning guitar it works well with both. Something that works along the same lines could be handy for more than just guitarist.
