Yorick Holiday collection (test of inline image)

I can't believe it took me four days to get my new Valentine's themed avatar done ... and the back of my mind kept saying, "don't waste that 1000th post on something frivoulous! don't just make another arcane pithy comment!"

so what do I do? put it up in all its cheesiness for the rest of eternity (or until a mod decides I'm wasting bandwidth) at VC.

well, at least I figured out the IMG tag ...

so much for my thousandth post ... 'cept my count didn't change yet ...

edit on 3/25/02: changed IMG path

A worthy thousandth post. ...and I haven't gotten the IMG tag down, either.

Well, I got my bunny suit on now.
(see this thread for stupid commentary from me about it.)

I had an avatar all ready set rarin to go on St. Patrick's Day to replace the leprechaun, but I discovered there's a size limit of 150x150. this image is 130x180:

so of course I had to find a way to get it shrunked. It took a week mainly because I only had three nights I could work on it.
Reducing it by the appropriate percentage resulted in a very scary Beetlejuice flashback. I didn't keep it.
I tried copying the shorter ear and flipping it but didn't like the result.
I then spent about two hours remaking the long ear and coloring it all up nice ... only to realise when the picture editor crashed that I hadn't saved my work. It was midnight. I was upset. I went to bed.
I redid my work tonight.

It's done. it works, sorta. I like the taller one better.
I'm doing my next one tomorrow.

i don't have an avatar. i can't draw to save my life. i once drew a dog at a gf's request and everyone thought it was an aligator with thick lips.

I'm beginning to think I have a hole in my head for deciding to do this year-long exercise.

Ha Ha.. TYou spend way too much time on VC. Oddly enough, I felt the same way. I really missed the avatar... I guess Yorick has become a brand..synonymous with skulls.

Anyone notice the trend towards people putting real pictures in the avatar? Whatever happen to anonymity?

*shrug* I'm not so sure that anonymity is necessarily a good thing in and of itself.

Haha..and this from a guy that has an alien head as his avatar? Still, I do remember that you had your picture in your avatar back in the "Warman Debate" days.

Yep, and a guy that had a real picture of his daughter with a dogbert plush just before that. I'm not getting the connection you're trying to make.

Yeah, I stopped using it when people started to infer tones into my post which weren't there because my avatar looked 'intense' or 'pissed off'.

and now you have a new one once again Yorick. How many different things can you make that skull look like?

back ta normal again for a while. (or what passes for it.)

lessee ... 12 months in a year ... 365 days ... uh ... "a lot."
There's already been four or five things I had to skip 'cuz I didn't have enough leeway (read: free time) to get everything figured out. Good things, considering what fiascos Valentine's and Easter ended up being (the process, I mean, not necessarily the end product. tho your mileage may vary.)

hey, I'm #12 on the top poster list now! neener neener!

A comment to the bystanders - if you understand the insult inherent in the above quote, that's almost a guarantee it wasn't addressed to you. Insulting people who are too stupid to comprehend is almost an art form, and a trait shared by all great writers.

Thankfully, the same people skipping over my posts because mr yuk means 'no' are the ones I don't want reading my posts to begin with.
