Sending data to CF card with MatchBook adapter
Can anyone tell me how (or if it is even possible) to transfer data to the CF card through a CF reader/writer and use it on the Visor? For instance I want to copy my notes directly to the CF card to study when I find idle time. I don't want to send it to Wordsmith, hotsync and then transfer to the card. I would rather copy once and view it later. Does this make sense?
I have copied files directly to the card but it doesn't show up in the CF with FAfilemover. I know the card is good because I have transfered files there with no problem. I'm looking for the short cut!
Forgive me if this is elementary but I have yet to master the CF technology in regards to my VDx.
TIA,
Teri

Your answer may be here. I assume the documents are palm docs, not text or word docs.
CompactFlash shortcuts
If you have a desktop CF reader (if you're looking for one, I recommend <http://www.newegg.com/> ) you can move files to the CF from your PC or Mac.
For the Visor to be able to see them, however, they have to be in Palm format -- either .PDB or .PRC. Keep your filenames simple (no spaces or special chars and keep 'em short) to avoid problems.
As mentioned, the FlashAdapter forum on Yahoo is the definitive source for Visor-CF info. (Though lately most of the discussion is related to the beta of VFS, the software that lets you keep data and programs on the CF and run/access them there.)
txt's on CF or SM card
There is several palm apps allow to read txt's on card without convert them into doc format. All of them require to have VFS installed (as I know it's available for MemPlug and korpsis-based adapters).
McFile file manager, iSilo 3.0 beta doc reader and J-Doc reader. Last one also allow to convert txt to doc's and vice versa "on-board" (but unfortunately only have Japanese interface).
