-- Treo 610 rumor. (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=47016)
im not worried aobut the 610 because
I bought mine at best buy and the got the extended service agreement. All I have to do is say this one is bad.. take it to the store they will give me the newest model and then I pay 70 dollars for the new service agreement. So, I can get the 610 for a 70 dollar upgrade charge. Not a big deal.

I think its wrong to release a new model so soon if these rumors are true. So, this does not bug me.
Slightly off topic, but theres a small problem with that morality issue of using the service plan to return it to Best Buy for the new model. I used to work at a Best Buy, and first off, the service and replacement plans were the big things that we were supposed to push with every sale. Second, we were told to say things like 'if it stops working, then you'll technically be able to get the new model' and it wasn't uncommon to ever hear a supervisor who was around say that if you happen to somehow drop it and theres a new model around, you can get the new model.
That all being said, I'm just slightly curious. Is Best Buy actually offering the Replacement plans (PRP) on the Treo 600, or is it a service plan (PSP) instead. Unless things have changed in the past year, I understand that you will only be able to get the new model if you have a PRP; the PSP means that instead Best Buy will take your phone for a while and send it out to be fixed. I thought that on higher risk items like cell phones and MP3 players and such (especially at this high of a cost) that Best Buy generally gave PSPs instead.
3 year replacement plan 70 dollars. The guy who sells them told me when the treo battery dies come in and they will give you the new model and you pay another 70 dollars to get the new contract. Since you have to send away for the battery they just give you the new model in store. And you know the battery will die before 3 years is up. That is why I spent this much money on a phone... the best buy replacement plan. It is a PRP i used to work there and know the people that still do. Its all good.

if the 610 rumor is true, i really doubt it will have BT, at least not the cdma sprint version. nope, don't see that happening anytime soon. not with the unlimited data plans they now have.
more important to me is a replaceable battery. i really don't want a higher resolution screen with battery life as it is. if the battery remains the same and a hi res screen is added, battery life will only go down. they gotta make the battery replaceable...what cell phone doesn't have a battery you can replace?
i have had my ipod 6 months and the battery is already starting to go. (i mention that because a non-replaceable battery is also a fault of the ipod. creative labs has a new comparable mp3 unit that has a battery you can swap out). i am sure my treo battery will die before i have it a year given the way i use it.
so if anyone at palmone is listening....give me a battery i can swap out before you do anything else.

Don't believe everything the sales bimbos tell you. Mine told me it would cover any damage except a broken screen. When I actually READ the thing, it turns out it's just an extended warranty. If you break it you're on your own. They will "repair or replace" at their option If they can't fix it, AND the model you own is no longer available, then they have the option of replacing it with a newer, equivalent model or refunding your money.
So unless PalmOne stops selling the 600 when the "610" comes out, don't count on replacing it for $70.
Don't beleive the Sales Clerk!!!
I got the extended warrenty from Stinking Radio Shack on my T300. When the Lid Cracked I took it back and explained that per what I have read on the Web this is a common trouble and since I payed for the extened warrenty I would like a replacement...
They took my phone and sent it away for a week, then they called me to come pick it up and said they will not replace it due to "User Caused breakage". I tied to expain that this was not the case and asked for the Radio Shack store manager. Of course he said the same thing I then flew off the handle to the point where they were about to call the police.
I took the phone to a Sprint Store and they replaced it on the spot.
If it ain't written it ain't true...

considering the fact that I did it before and the contract says they will replace it with the current model if the older model is no longer sold I am fine. Last word im saying on it. I could care less what others think.

You've got it backwards, K-
Best Buy and the insurance company took money from him. The warranty business has huge profit margins: Relatively few people file claims because thet don't need to and often because they don't understand the product they purchased -their coverage. The few dissatisfied customers that do, spread the word, give credibility to the business, and increase sales. Everybody's happy. Cheers.

quote:Unless the party signing the agreement (senior management) has witnessed and consented to such action, it too is wrong. The whole issue here is one of authority: you do not have the authority to say "despite what the contract says, what the counterparty meant was..." and the salesman has no authority to speak for those whose money is on the line. Clearly if he had said "here, take this money from the cash register" you would know it's wrong. He doesn't have the authority to do that (unless of course you are at a small business, know the owner and the owner is the one offering you the money).

Regardless of what the fine print says, sales people often (verbally) sell these "warranties" as ways to upgrade your phone to newer models when they come out. Does anyone dispute that?

The contract says what i said it says. So stop preeching if you wanna build a church fine. No one is listening to what you have to say. Or do you always have to have the final word and cant let things go?
