After a long back order wait I finally got my case from Covertec, the Visor Cobra. It's a really nice looking case. It's a flip case design that uses the Visor's hard cover to keep it in place. It's made out of a combination of leather and some sort of plastic foamy material that seems to provide a fair amount of protection. There is even a slot to hold a stylus (Finally a place for the black nail, from my old Palm Pro).

It's a belt clip design. When talking to the sales guy he said that the belt clip just slid on your belt, but said that he did have a "wrap around" belt clip as well. I liked the idea of the better security with the wrap around kind and ordered one of those.

Overall I really like the case, and the best part is that I don't have to hide my nice BLUE Visor with a case like the Slipper!

The one thing about this case was that I could not find a review on it or any of Covertec's other cases anywhere on the net. I tried searching, but ended up finding out of date links.

I looked at this case a few months back, and sent an email to Covertec asking a few questions...one thing people might want to know is they will be offering (I was told) the leather versions (like the ones for Palm III) around Christmas time......just and FYI!

How comfortable is the belt-clip when you sit or drive your car?

In regards to the Hot Sync question. No you cannot syn in the case, but it is easy to remove it from the case (just take it out of the hard cover). The clip is really quite comfortable, and it swivels. This is my first belt clip case and I find the clip action to be quite secure ( A good solid snap and one-handed release). I've been carrying it around all day and have not had a problem sitting down or driving.

As far as leather is concerned I too heard that from the sales guy, but I don't know if I trust the timeline. The first time I talked to him we told me the end of August. The second time he told me October.

I'm really torn between getting the Cobra case or the Rhodiana case with belt clip for my Visor.

So far I'm leaning toward the Cobra because it seems to be easier to get the PDA in and out of it, It looks cool, and it's cheaper.

I am kind of concerned about the protection issue - the Rhodiana case seems to protect better but I'm not sure.

Like zero I couldn't find any Cobra reviews anywhere. If anyone has experience with both these cases, which one would you recommend?

I was seriously considering the Rhodiana case as well. The things that detracted me from it though were:

1. It's balistic nylon. I have a briefcase with the same material and it collects pet fur like crazy (We have a long haired dog and a long haired cat).

2. This is a bit more vain, but I didn't like how the Rhodiana was going to cover up my Blue Visor. I specifically picked this color out and really like it. I don't want to hide it.

3. The ease of removal for Hot Syncing. I had heard various reports of people not pleased with the difficult removal from the Rhodiana case.

I find that the protection is quite good on the Cobra.I haven't dropped it yet, but I would venture to say that it would cushion a chest high drop (I'm not garunteing this though).

I wish that Visor Central would do a review of this case. In fact I wouldn't mind doing it for them if they wanted (Hint, Hint).

I own the Cobra and love it. The construction is very sturdy. My Visor has survived numerous drops onto hard floors while in the Cobra.

It's easy to remove for synching, though it does not have much room at all to put business cards, etc.

One of the best features it the rotating belt clip. When you sit down, the case "swivels" eliminating your Visor digging in to you thigh or hip.

I would recommend this case if your looking for the following:

1) a slim, professional design.
2) the ability to clip to belt. there is a round "nub" that attached to the belt clip itself that cannot be removed.
3) you don't need storage space for credit cards, money, etc.
4) a flip-style cover
5) if you're cool like me

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered the Cobra case late last night. I just couldn't resist for the price and functionality it offers.

I'll be happy to do a review when I get it in.

BTW - great customer support from Covertec. I called to check that order went through and when it would ship and it's shipping today! (that's less than 12 hours from when I ordered) Their website says 4-8 weeks, but don't believe it - they haven't updated this info yet.

Just got the Covertec Cobra Visor case today - ordered just after midnight Friday morning. I've got to say this is a great case and I'd reccomend it to anyone interested in a stylish slim case for your Visor you can clip on your belt.

The quality of construction seems good, and I think it would protect my handheld pretty well. The case is part leather and what looks like a tightly woven nylon that reminds me of my Gerber knife's sheeth.

The stitching is a khaki color and the front of the cover is stiff and padded to protect from small bumps to the screen.

The inside of the case is lined with some sort of felt material and there's an elastic strap for holding credit cards and such - though I'm afraid if I put something in there it might scratch the Visor's screen.

I really like the simple design of using the hard cover that comes with the Visor to hold it in the case. No straps or velcro to get in the way. You can also clip in the Visor face-down for extra protection if you want.

The stylus is still easy to get out when the Visor is in the case. There's a slot for an extra stylus on the outside of the case too!

The flip up cover folds back out of the way, makes it easy to hold and works great on a desk - elevating and tilting the Visor just enough.

The belt clip seem to be of pretty good quality. Removing the case from the clip is as simple as squeezing the buttons on the side which are easy to reach. The position of the clip makes it impossible to open the case while it's on your belt -which is a good thing.

The snap that holds the case shut is nice and the extra velcro incorporated into the clasp is a nice feature - keeps the snap from rotating.

My only complaint is the ugly embossed Covertec words on the bottom of the case, but this is just my personal preference.

Overall a great case for the Visor! I did a lot of research before ordering this one and I have to say for only about $31 with shipping it's a great deal!

So is it $25 for the case with belt clip, or do you have to buy the belt clip separately?

How easy is it to remove the case from your belt? Can you do it with one hand?

Ash - the case comes with the belt clip and yes it is easy to remove with one hand. The part that clips to your belt has buttons on each side which is wide enough to reach almost to the edges of the case.

PDAENVY - the front is not as hard as the Handspring cover and there does not seem to be any kind of hard insert, but there is padding there and extra leather on the front. I suppose you could put your own hard plastic piece in the elastic strap on the inside to stiffen up the front but I don't think it really needs it. You could always attach the Visor face down as you mentioned to protect the screen if you are out doing something active like hiking, but probably not necessary for everyday use.

I have to admit that I'm really impressed with Covertec. I ordered a cobra yesterday afternoon and have been tracking it and it looks like they shipped it within an hour from when I ordered it and it's riding around on a van here in town as I write this soon to be delivered at home. They have to be the fastest shipping I have ever seen.

Or maybe I was just lucky.

It's not just you that is lucky. Within 30 minutes of placing the order I had an email in my box with the FedEx tracking number of the package. If the product is as good as the shipping team, this one's a keeper!

Yeah now I have to track down the fedex guy who's been trying to deliver all day at a house with no one home....oh well I guess you can't have everything...

Got it This case rocks BTW. The only problem I have with it is no corner protection. But that's not a real big thing...I have to say If I ever order another case for any palm device ever it's gonna be from them...I like the 2 day shipping that's there in 12 hours from across the country. Great job on the case. I hope anyone who doesn't have one gets one.

It arrived within 24 hours of placing my order. Now THAT'S customer service! I love this case! There is no side protection, but the belt clip puts it up out of harms way. It is very quick to come off the swivel and faster to go back on the belt. So far, it's the best solution that I've seen.

I just got my Covertec Cobra case as well. Mine was shipped on Tuesday via second-day FedEx, and was cradling my happy Visor as soon as I got home from work on Wednesday.
Nice, efficient design - I love being able to use my VDX without having to remove from a case as I had to before, and the fact that it incorporates the snap-on cover into the case design takes care of the problem of that floating around, too.
The belt clip is easy to use and secure and swivels very freely, although it does cause the whole thing to protrude from the belt a bit. Overall, I'm pretty darn happy with it so far.
