Stylus w/ lighted tip

I saw a new Stylus with a lighted tip. The back end has three different caps to put on it in the same package so it will fit properly in many different PDAs. Has anyone used this one before?

Nope

Nope, I saw it on the peg board at Best Buy. It was only $9.99 too.

Unluckily the only lighted stylus I could find was the PDA Panches' Beacon stylus - which does not fit the stylo - maybe go back to BB to check it out?

It isn't the Panches' Beacon. It most resembled a Palm III stock barrel with a clear yellow tip. In the package lined up besides it were the tops to be screwed on. One was for the Palm, One was for a Clie (I think) an the last was deffinatley shaped like a Visor top. The package labling also said made to fit a Visor.

Nuts to me for not taking out my Visor and taking manufacture notes from the package. I'll have to brave the mall traffic and head back to Best Buy. I might buy it. It was only $9.99 each.

I read that this flashlight serves as a decent lighted stylus, at least for a Rex.

I picked up the one from Best Buy a couple weeks ago on a lark. It was actually broken and required minor disassembly to adjust the gap between the battery's contact and the LED. Major disadvantage is that its activated by tightening/twisting the screw on tip. When not illuminated, the tip is slightly loose. It's OK, but not compelling enough to switch. (It has a yellow LED.)

That light looks to be difficult to use like a pen, pencil or stylus.

If anyone has used a stylus with a light-up tip, how have you dealt with the reflection off the screen?

A while ago, I tried an illuminated pen that a paramedic buddy of mine uses. I was able to temporarily use the stylus tip from a combo pen/stylus I had. The reflection issue wasn't all that bad since the stylus is typically angled away from you when using it. I thought it was a neat idea and was bright enough to not need the backlight for simple lookup and entry.

I use a screen protector that reduces glare so it wouldn't be a problem. The main time I want a lighted tip is when I am using graffiti or wanting to use the home button.

website

Just got back from BB, got the stylus. It's pretty cool, clear tip that lights up, same size as old stylus, has a wierd shaped battery inside. URL is http://store.yahoo.com/saitekusa/lightstylus.html
Price at BB is the same. Hope this helps.

Posted by miradu on 11-25-2001 12:58 AM:

awesome - I think I'll go pick it up...

their site doens't work for me (http://www.saitekusa.com/) (DNS errors), and unluckily archive.org's archive is from march and googles' from last month (doens't mention any pda stylus stuff) so theirs no mroe info.. too bad - that thing looks awesome!

How bright is it?

Is there room for a reset pin?

Well, I wouldn't try to read a book in the dark or guide an airplane by it or anything, but it's bright enough to see your app/calc/find/option buttons on your silkscreen. The reset pin...it has one, but it's not long enough to reach the button in my Prism; maybe the Deluxe is less deep. The battery looks like a little blasting cap. I've never seen one like it. Assuming you could find a replacement, it would be pretty easy to install. Oh, and the link worked just fine for me

good, so you can change the batteries.
Sounds like a watch battery of some sort. It should have a number engraved on it; can you post that for reference? or maybe a picture of the battery? both?
Thanks!
